U.S. Diversity Visa Lottery selection results voided worldwide

The U.S. Department of State has issued a notice that all Diversity Visa selection results for DV-2012 published worldwide between May 1-6, 2011 have been voided due to a computer error in the random selection process. All notices informing entrants that they have been selected for further processing in DV-2012 have been withdrawn.

A new random selection will take place, and the results will be published on July 15, 2011. Individuals who submitted a qualified entry from October 5, 2010, to November 3, 2010, do not need to re-apply. Qualified entries from this time period will be included in the new random selection. Confirmation numbers provided to check status on the Entry Status Check web page will remain valid.

U.S. law requires that all Diversity Immigrant Visas be made available on a strictly random basis. A computer programming error resulted in an outcome that was not truly random. Therefore, the results published earlier this month do not meet the requirements of the law and must be voided.
