Songun idea stems from Juche idea

The Songun idea is an original revolutionary idea that stems from the great Juche idea.

The Juche idea was established in June 1930 at the historic Kalun meeting in which Kim Il Sung put forth the Juche-oriented line of the Korean revolution.

The idea is based on the philosophical principle that man is master of everything and decides everything and gives answers to all the problems arising in providing independence for the people.

First, the reason why the Songun idea originates in the Juche idea is that it embodies the principle of independence indicated by the Juche idea.

The principle of independence means that independence is the life of man as a social being and the life and soul of a nation and requires that all the problems that arise in the revolutionary struggle and construction have to be resolved independently.

A striving to provide independence for the people and nation is made in the fierce face-off with the imperialists.

The imperialists are blocking the people's fight to gain independence by counter-revolutionary force. So, without the powerful revolutionary armed forces it is impossible for the people and nation to get independence. This is the truth taught by history.

It is the fundamental requirements of the Songun idea to independently address all the problems arising in the revolution and construction by giving priority to the military affairs.

The Juche idea requires that all the issues the people face in the cause of socialism be resolved thoroughly by proceeding from their independent demand and interest and by their own efforts.

The arms of the revolution are an actual guarantee that enables the people to defend their independent demand and interest and deal with all the problems arising in the revolution and construction by their own efforts.

The powerful arms make it possible to establish the independent stance in all the spheres of social life including the politics, the economy, ideology and culture and resolve all the problems in the revolution and construction in reliance on one's own efforts.

Second, the Songun idea embodies the principle of the driving force in the revolution elucidated by the Juche idea.

The Juche idea expounds that the direct doer or the main force that starts a revolutionary movement and pushes it is the people who are guided by the Party and leader.

In the Songun era the people constitute the strong driving force of the revolution united with one ideology, purpose and a sense of moral obligation under the guidance of the Party and leader with the army as the core.

The main force of the revolution neither remains unchanged nor has to be seen in the light of the class relationship. It is because the environment and conditions of the revolutionary struggle change constantly and the levels of the people's independence, creativeness and consciousness develop accordingly.

The Workers' Party of Korea has put forward the People's Army as the main agent of the revolution in line with the requirements of the times and the developing revolution, showing a scientific way to strengthen the driving force of the revolution.

As seen above, the Songun idea has indicated ways to build up the main force of the revolution in the Songun era and boost its role by embodying the principle of the Juche idea on the driving force of the revolution.

Third, the Songun idea embodies the principle of the Juche idea that requires to address all the issues by stimulating the people ideologically.

Ideology decides everything and there is nothing the people cannot do if they are motivated ideologically and spiritually—this is the revolutionary principle illumined by the Juche idea.

The WPK has seen the revolutionary soldier spirit as a powerful weapon that has to be possessed by the army and people and defends and adds brilliance to socialism on the basis of them.

The revolutionary soldier spirit that the soldiers of the People's Army are highly demonstrating in the national defence and socialist construction is the great revolutionary spirit produced by the WPK's Songun idea and leadership.

The Korean people have found the height of the spiritual strength they should possess in the revolutionary soldier spirit and have acquired the spirit of doing anything they are assigned at any cost and the strong spiritual strength by learning from them.

The revolutionary soldier spirit is a socialism-defending spirit that makes it possible to foil the war moves of the imperialists, block the ideological and cultural poisoning and defend the ideological position of socialism, its life and soul.

In conclusion, the Songun idea has proceeded from the Juche idea and is the revolutionary idea to apply the requirements of the Juche idea to practice.
