Mastermind of blood-less military coup of January 11, 2007 in Bangladesh, General Moeen U Ahmed, who is living in United States for past two plus years to avoid legal consequences in Bangladesh for his series of wrong doings, corruption and criminal activities. It is already known to many that, General Moeen U Ahmed extorted millions of Taka from local businessmen and politicians by secretly abducting them through a group of loyalist army officers and later those abducted people were locked into isolated cells inside Dhaka Cantonment. At the instruction of General Moeen, numerous forms of physical tortures continued on these abducted people with the ulterior motive of extracting money. It is learnt from a number of confirmed sources that, General Moeen and his palls not only forced the abducted businessmen from paying heavy ransom in Bangladesh, but in a number of cases, army officers travelled to Singapore and Bangkok as representative of General Moeen for receiving money from the foreign bank account of the captured businessmen or politicians. Hailing from greater Noakhali district, General Moeen U Ahmed and his brothers established reign of terror in the locality with the help of local administration. Name of General Moeen's younger came prominently for his limitless corruption, nepotism and various forms of criminal activities. General Moeen even tried to draw sympathy of the locals in his ancestral district to get support for his younger brother to become the member of parliament from that constituency, when Moeen's 'Made in Cantonment' political parties would run for general election after both the large political parties are visibly eliminated by the military rulers. Though Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed was the chief executive of the caretaker government, Moeen always remained at the lime light. He planted Syed Fahim Munayem [younger brother of the editor of Daily Star] as the press advisor to Dr. Fakhruddin, who was busy in isolating the chief executive of the interim government thus arranging maximum media exposure for General Moeen. Syed Fahim Munayem had been one of the collaborators, who tried to place General Moeen in politics and ultimately turn him as the next head of the government in Bangladesh. General Moeen U Ahmed is also made liable for the murder of 73 army officers inside the Pilkhana headquarters of Bangladesh Riffles during February 25-26, 2009. It is learnt that, General Moeen was reluctant in sending any striking force to rescue the army officers and their family members from the BDR headquarters. Instead, he was sitting silent thus allowing the renegades to murder army officers and continues notoriety on their family members. It is even learnt that, General Moeen was aware of the mutiny at least two days before it took place. But, instead of taking any precautionary measure, he simply remained silent, thus allowing the bloodiest incident in the history of Bangladesh army to take place in broad-day-light. A number of sources in United States have confirmed that General Moeen is not suffering from any disease. Reports on his so-called illness were intentionally sent to Bangladeshi media with the ulterior motive of letting this culprit military General prolong his stay in United States, which is the only way for General Moeen to avoid series of criminals charges at home. Commenting on the case of General Moeen u Ahmed, a legal expert told Weekly Blitz that, affected people can always continue to lodge formal complaints against General Moeen U Ahmed with the concerned police station or the Court of the Metropolitan Magistrate. "Let the complaints be lodges and legal proceedings continue in absence of General Moeen. Once the verdicts are given, he [Moeen] will be compelled to face them, if he ever wishes to return to Bangladesh." Meanwhile, a confirmed source said, sitting in United States, the power-monger General is continuing to communicate with his former comrades of 1/11 and conspiring to unseat the ruling government in Bangladesh.
