Mega Millions is America's biggest jackpot game with jackpots starting at US$12 million and other prizes ranging from US$2 to US$250,000! In September 2002, Washington became the 10th member state, followed by Texas in December 2003. In June 2005, California became the 12th member, solidifying Mega Millions as the country's most widely played multi-state jackpot game.
On March 6, 2007, Mega Millions again made history with a jackpot of US$390 million - setting the record for the largest jackpot in North America.
On January 31, 2010, 23 more state lotteries joined Mega Millions as an historic cross-selling agreement between Mega Millions and Powerball went into effect. With additional lotteries joining since then, Mega Millions is now played in 43 jurisdictions: 41 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

How the draws are conducted?
The Mega Millions Drawings are conducted under rigid security procedures.
Drawings are held at WSB-TV studio in Atlanta, Georgia, every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Many things go into a successful Mega Millions drawing.
The drawing machines and ball sets for each game are randomly selected and certified by outside auditors, to ensure that balls and equipment allow each number an equal chance of being drawn.
Each Lottery drawing machine and ball set used goes through a series of pre-drawing tests to ensure the absolute randomness of the results.
Post-drawing tests are conducted as part of the certification process.
Two draw officials who are lottery employees and one member of an independent auditing firm administer tests.
In addition to these measures, all of these steps are videotaped to further ensure the integrity of the process.
All draw equipment is securely maintained with limited access to draw officials only.
The entire process takes approximately three hours for a drawing that takes less than 60 seconds.

Euro Millions is a European lottery that takes place twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday evenings. Whereas national lotteries are generally limited to the residents of one particular country, the Euro Millions lottery pools the stakes of the participating European countries. This obviously makes the prizes a great deal larger than in national lotteries even in normal circumstances. But because the main prize pool is "rolled over" to the next draw if there is no jackpot winner, prizes can - after a few weeks without a winner - be as high as 185 million Euros. There are nine countries currently participating in EuroMillions. In alphabetical order, these are Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. This makes EuroMillions one of the biggest lotteries on the planet - and certainly one of the most exciting!
Unlike many other countries, Germany does not have a single national lottery draw. Instead, separate lotteries are staged in the various regions of the country, namely: Baden-Württemberg, Bayern, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hessen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, Thüringen.
If each regional lottery game was entirely different then playing the German Lotto could potentially be confusing. Fortunately, the main game in all of the regions named above is a 6 from 49 lottery (Lotto 6 aus 49).
Like many 6 from 49 lottery games, seven balls are actually drawn when the game is played, with the seventh ball being deemed a "Bonus Ball". In most 6 from 49 games, the Bonus Ball only comes into play when determining the winners of non-jackpot prizes, but in Germany players must match all six main numbers and the seventh Bonus Ball in order to land the jackpot. If you want to participate in the richest lotto anywhere in the world, these dates should be etched into your memory with gold foil: December the 22nd (El Gordo de Navidad "The Fat One"), January the 6th (Sorteo del Niño), and 5th July "The Summer Fat One". This is the only lottery which offers over €1 billion (around £600 million) in prizes.
The draw is made with two bowls or "bombos", and is usually accompanied by singing orphan children and a lot of over-the-top shiny stuff - from dropping paper to the dresses worn by the glamorous assistants. The draw can take about five hours from start to finish, but the whole country watches every single second.
One of the aforementioned bowls contains the 66,000 possible numbers of the draw, and in the other are a set of balls with the prizes.
Balls are extracted from both bowls simultaneously until all of the prizes have been won. Tickets have roughly a 1:6 chance of winning any prize with around 2,000 of the 66,000 winning at least face value of the ticket.
The sums involved are large and it is not uncommon for an entire village, factories and extended families to gang together to buy sets of tickets and then share the proceeds amongst all of the members.

The Irish Lottery, which replaced the Irish Hospital Sweepstakes in 1988, is one of the best lottery games in the world as far as the odds of winning are concerned. Of course, no lottery game is easy to win, but the chances of you landing the top prize in the Irish Lottery are an impressive 1 in 8,145,060. The Irish Lottery game requires players to select six numbers from 1 to 45. Seven numbers are drawn in the lottery itself, comprising six main numbers and one "bonus" number.
