When Occupy Wall Street movement began in New York City, the entire world in general and United States in particular came to realize the plain fact that they have been oppressed and repressed by the smallest 1% segment of the society for decades, who basically are welcoming endless sufferings to the 99% of the population just because of unhealthy lust for money or power. As US Congress, Senate and the White House is occupied by the representatives of the 1%, we have witnessed how police brutality were enforced on the representatives of the 99% of the population, when those representatives were demonstrating at Wall Street with very genuine and time-worthy demands in favor of the people of United States. American 1%, which always raises finger at the world on human rights issue, is no doubt is the champion violator of human rights and rights of the citizen. This time, at Wall Street, this truth has also been once again exposed to the entire world. According to 2010 census, the population of the United States was 308,745,538, which means the 99 percent of the total population of the country is ruled and repressed by only a small segment of 3,087,455 people, who are holding America's wealth as well as civil, military top positions and of course the US politics. The huge sized US Armed Forces consisting army, navy, air force, marines and coast guards (more than 1,430,895 with an additional 848,000 people in the seven reserve components) are eating US$ 533.8 billion each year. At the same time, US$ 130.0 billion was requested for "Overseas Contingency Operations" in the War on Terrorism, and over the course of the year, an additional US$33 billion in supplemental spending was added to Overseas Contingency Operations funding. Outside of direct Department of Defense spending, the United States spends another US$ 262 billion each year on other defense-related programs including maintenance of the nuclear weapons or Weapons of Mass Destructions (WMD). So every year, an amount of US$ 828.8 billion (which is even believed to be much higher in reality as there are many hidden expenditures) is spent in defense sector, while leaving many of the basic requirements of the 99% of the population – totally unaddressed. It is important to mention, such huge defense spending are determined by those 1% of the total population of the United States with the excuse of protecting America, which actually in most cases turn to be the power game of the smallest 1% of the population. It may be noted that United States has the biggest defense budget in the world. Though size of the American army is much smaller than that of China, the total defense expenditure of United States is six-time higher than that of China. It is estimated that approximately 15-25 percent of the total defense expenditures of the United States go into pockets of the influential members of the ruling class. United States is the land of braves and heroes. But this nation is being ruled and repressed by the 1% of the smallest segment in the society for decades, simply with the trick of fearing the Americans with imaginary fear factors. This 1% of the population is not only spending hugely in defense budget but also playing with the lives of the American soldiers (who also belong to the 99% of the population segment). Just in the Vietnam War, 58,220 American soldiers died, 1,697 missing and 303,635 wounded. At the same time, almost three million Vietnamese, some 290,000 Cambodians and 176,000 Laotian soldiers and civilians were killed during the Vietnam War, which was imposed on the Vietnamese people by Washington. During the bloody Vietnam War, more than half million Vietnamese, Cambodian and Laotian females were sexually abused and raped by the American soldiers, which shall stand as the worst ever example of crime against humanity in the world. Similarly on July 26, 1945, 166,000 people died in Hiroshima and 80,000 people in Nagasaki in Japan, when United States dropped atomic bombs named "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" on the innocent civilians at the executive order of US President Harry S. Trumen. Following this attack, during the subsequent months, large numbers died from the effect of burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries, compounded by illness. In a US estimate of the total immediate and short term cause of death, 15–20% died from radiation sickness, 20–30% from flash burns, and 50–60% from other injuries, compounded by illness. In both cities, most of the dead were civilians. The Japanese people will possibly never be able to forgive United States for such huge crime on humanity. While the oppressive American elites (1% of the population) are continuing to spend madly on defense budget - simply with the mission of murdering and repressing innocent civilians in the world, according to 2011 September statistics, 27,787,098 plus of the total population are already left unemployed, which is at an alarming trend of increase. It is feared by many analysts that by the end of 2011, the total number of unemployed population in the United States may cross 11 percent. The 1% of the total population of United States is not only senselessly continuing huge expenditures on various unproductive sectors, but also are pushing the economic fate of the US towards visible bankruptcy. The U.S. government ran up a US$1.3 trillion budget deficit in the fiscal year (2011) ending September 30, its third consecutive annual budget deficit to exceed US$1 trillion. The annual budget deficit in 2010 was US$1.29 trillion and the second highest on record, according to the Treasury Department, a place that 2011 will now hold. In 2009, the deficit reached US$1.42, its highest ever. The budget deficit in fiscal 2011 was 8.7% of the nation's gross domestic product, down from 9% in 2010. The gap climbed as high as 10% of GDP in 2009, it's highest since 1945, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Shameful enough for every American citizen to witness that the land of braves and heroes has started begging from the still-developing Asian nations, including China to overcome America's budget deficits and debts. If the 1% segment of the American society, who are rather continuing to grab political and economic power in the country will not be put under tremendous pressure to ratify their policies, United States of American by 2018 will fall into worst ever economic crisis, which not only will increase the unemployment rate to many folds, but also may put America into huge economic challenge, that may not be possible to overcome even in a couple of decades. At the same time, American supremacy will collapse and Washington will lose its status to be the most powerful capital in the world. It was shocking enough to read few lately released news and commentaries stating, murdered Libyan leader Gaddafi was providing free electricity to his countrymen, while the state was patronizing newly married couple with interest-free loan amounting to US$ 50,000 each for buying a house and financial benefits were offered to pregnant mothers. The country was also funding the citizen in higher education abroad. It was also revealed after the murder of Gaddafi that, "major portion of the oil revenue in Libya were directly going to the Central Bank and subsequently such fund were used for welfare of the people of the country". Gaddafi, though may be known as an autocrat or even a murderer - had been able to free his country and the people from being in debts and Libya emerged as one of the proud debt-free sovereign nations in the world. Foreign media (even Western) reported after Gaddafi's death that, it was impossible to locate any bagger in Libya while baggers are seen in most of the nations in the world, including United States (numbers of baggers are on increasing trend). While 15.2 percent of the population in United States live below the national poverty line, only 7.2 percent of the Libyans are at the same status. Libyan population was at 6.8 million in 2010. Total land size of Libya is 1.76 km², while the size of United States of America is 9.83 million km². Gaddafi was a bad man that all we know, but what we did not know until he was murdered is, this African Muslim autocrat was much human to his citizen than any of the leaders or Presidents in the United States and the so-called civilized Western world. American ruling elites will try to establish a myth that United States gives values to rights of the civilians and ensures freedom of expression. But, what the world witnessed during the movement of the Occupy Wall Street activists, especially the police brutalities on the demonstrators – American myth may not work anymore and Washington has definitely exposed its extremely nasty face to the 99% of the population in United States as well to the world of being the gross violator of human rights. Many may now start thinking, where is the ultimate option for the 99% of the population in the United States to overthrow the occupants representing 1% of the society, which are actually sitting at the head of each of the important civil, military and economic establishments in the country. Possibly the high-time for getting answer to this question is now, as United States is getting set for another presidential election in 2012. The 99% of the population of the United States should now be rest assured that, none of the candidates belonging to the Republicans or the Democrats are going to uphold the interest of the majority of the population. But, once elected, be it Democrat or Republican – the next American president will once again step into the same shoes of defending rights and interests of the 1% of the population while adopting numerous policies to further oppress and repress the 99%. No matter who wins the presidential race! Be it Barack Obama, Warren Mosler or Randall Terry from the Democrats or Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Gary E. Johnson, Fred Karger, Andy Martin, Thaddeus McCotter, Jimmy McMillan, Roy Moore, Ron Paul, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Perry, Buddy Roemer, Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum from the Republicans or Kent Mesplay from Green or R. Lee Wright from Libertarian or Stewart Alexander from Socialist Party USA – all of them are representatives or agents of the 1%. If the American 99% aspire to attain liberation from the occupation of the 1%, they must elect Representatives of the 99% not only at White House, but also at US Congress, Senate as well as Governors at each of the States. The year 2012 should be the YEAR OF WAKING UP for the 99% of the American population to say ENOUGH to the 1% and rescue American economy, politics and administration from the wrongful occupation of the 1% minorities. Popular masses in United States need to sharpen their movements against the 1% oppressive forces, and spread the slogans of starting the victory of the 99% by electing their own candidates in each of the segments of the American politics. Wake up American 99%! DISCLAIMER: Opinion expressed in this article is solely of the author and may not necessarily reflect the editorial policy of Weekly Blitz.
