According to information, at least two of the important members of the board of directors of Destiny 2000 Limited have already left the country and are now living in Malaysia and a Western country, where they already have shifted significant amount of money, which they looted from the people. In December last year [December 28, 2011], banking and financial institution section of the Ministry of Finance issued a letter to the secretary of the ministry of commerce and secretary of the ministry of home affairs, suggesting them to investigate the illegal activities of Destiny 2000 Limited and take necessary actions. The letter sent by Md. Rizwanul Huda, deputy secretary of the ministry said, commerce ministry requested Bangladesh Bank for taking necessary actions against Destiny 2000 Limited. It further said, "Fraudulent activities of these companies [Destiny 2000 Limited and other MLM companies] are potential threats to people's interest and necessary actions should be taken against them. The commerce and home affairs ministries can take necessary actions in this regard." Earlier, on December 1, 2011, Bangladesh Bank sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance with the references of previous letters, requesting the ministry to ask the commerce ministry and the ministry of home affairs of taking necessary actions against Destiny 2000 Limited on the basis of specific allegations of irregularities. Meanwhile the matter was already discussed in the parliament last week, where the commerce minister G. M. Quader told the house that the multi level marketing companies are engaging in illegal and fraudulent activities and are alluring people with multiple offers thus finally cheating them. Sensing stern action from the government as well as massive public wrath, owners of most of the large multi level marketing companies such as Destiny 2000 Limited, Neway, Aim Way Corporation Limited, Revnex etc are already transferring significant portion of the fund they already collection from the innocent people and gradually preparing to flee the country, thus leaving millions of people totally cheated. It may be mentioned here that, till date, only Destiny 2000 Limited has collected an amount equivalent to 9 billion dollars from the innocent people by giving them offers of high profit from its fake tree plantation and real estate projects. Though Destiny Tree Plantation Limited [a venture of Destiny 2000 Limited] openly proclaims to have planted more that 50 million trees in the country and has already collected the aforesaid amount of money from the people, people concerned said, the fraudulent MLM Company even does not have a fraction of the claimed trees in real. It may also be mentioned here that, kingpin of Destiny 2000 Limited, Mohammed Rafiqul Amin has already given shares in the Destiny Tree Plantation Limited to former chief of Bangladesh Army, Lieutenant General Harun Ur Rashid, who's involvement in this fraudulent ventures has already generated huge criticize at home. Many believe that, by affiliating with the fraudulent venture, General Harun is actually putting the very image of the Bangladesh Army at stake. Meanwhile, Destiny 2000 Limited's another fake venture named Best Air has already turned into a huge scam as the promoters of the MLM company sold shares worth a few hundred crore Taka to the innocent people by promising to turn Best Air into a "huge airline company in the private sector", though the company does not have any real existence except its office at Dhaka's Badda area. It was earlier claimed by the masterminds of Best Air and Destiny 2000 Limited that the commercial operation of the flights of Best Air will begin from December 2011, though in reality, there is no such hope even in the near future. Destiny 2000 Limited also claimed to be setting an automobile assembling plant under joint venture with a Chinese automobile company named Geely. It also announced to establish a general hospital and medical college in Bangladesh and photograph of the laying of foundation stone of this fake project is prominent displayed on the website as well as publicity materials of the company. It is learnt that, Destiny 2000 Limited has also sold shares of their fake automobile assembling plant as well as medical college to the innocent people by giving them false profit figures. Destiny 2000 Limited has also sold shares of their fake life insurance company to its members, though in real, there is no such existence of any such life insurance company in Bangladesh. The ministry concerned confirmed to Weekly Blitz that no such permission for Life Insurance Company was ever issued in favor of Destiny 2000 Limited. Owners and masterminds of Destiny 2000 Limited are smart enough in swindling money from the people and now they also have started making frantic bid in salvaging their skins from public wrath. In recent days, Destiny 2000 Limited has started spending huge amount of money by becoming sponsors of various social events in Bangladesh. Lately they have become the main sponsor of an event named Bangladesh Premier League [BPL], where Destiny 2000 Limited paid TK. 75 million as sponsor money. Commenting of Destiny 2000 Limited's sponsorship of BPL, a source inside the Ministry of Home Affairs told Weekly Blitz that the frauds of Destiny 2000 Limited are spending such money as an attempt of eye wash as they already have visibly looted thousands of crores of Taka from the public and it is even feared that by 2012 Destiny 2000 Limited will simply disappear by looting huge amount of money from the people. The source said, the Prime Minister needs to take personal initiatives in this case for the sake of public interest. It further said that, the scam of MLM companies will become bigger headache for the government than the share market scam, if necessary legal actions are not taken against the fraudsters of MLM companies forthwith.
