Almost after 3 months of attack on Weekly Blitz office by a group of thugs belonging to the ruling party led by Ruhul Amin and co-led by Shamim from Directorate General of Forces Intelligence [DGFI], there is visibly no action yet by the law enforcing agencies in either arresting the culprits or recovering the looted goods including the laptop of the Blitz editor, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury. It is reported that, influential leaders of the ruling party are continuing to make calls to Paltan Police Station as well as other senior police officers with the instruction of not taking any action against their party thugs. Meanwhile, the office of Weekly Blitz has turned into a center of various types of notorious criminals including murderers and extortionists for weeks. Party thugs are using this place as safe haven of consuming narcotics as well as other forms of immoral activities. On last Monday, one of the attackers named Liton went to the lawyer of Weekly Blitz editor, threatening him of dire consequence if the case lodged following the attack on the Blitz office on February 22, 2009 is not withdrawn immediately. Liton also told the lawyer, "Tell your client that if this case continues, one day he will be found dead in Dhaka". It may be mentioned here that, Liton is a cadre of Awami League leader Amir Hossain Amu. Weekly Blitz has gathered information on Shamim as well as Ruhul Amin. According to information, Shamim, being an officer of DGFI continues to commit crimes in the country with affiliation of criminal gangs. His desperation is gradually increasing as the Forces Intelligence continues to remain silent on his misdeeds for reason unknown. Ruhul Amin on the other hand is the kingpin of extortion and various forms of crimes within the Banga Bazar market. He also leads a huge gang involved in smuggling of Indian textile items. He also, in connivance of some corrupt customs officers are regularly stealing seized textile items from various land ports and sea ports for years. It is further learnt that, Ruhul Amin and his gang is planning to assassin Blitz editor, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury when he goes to court to appear for trial on the sedition charge on May 26.
