Trial of the usurpers must not be ignored
by Nazrul Islam Khan http://www.weeklyblitz.net/300/trial-of-the-usurpers-must-not-be-ignored
The trial of the past Chief Adviser Dr. Fakruddin Ahmed and the retired Army Chief General Moeen U Ahmed is a smoldering question in our political arena. A large number of Political leaders belonging to major political parties criticize as well as condemn the two for their illegally usurpation of powers as well as infringement of the sacred Constitution. But the prime minister warned the Awami League leaders not to criticize them as otherwise the last parliamentary election will loose its credibility. In fact, for the era of last Army backed self-styled caretaker government General Moeen was the actual ruler. He used DGFI, prominent intelligence wing of Army, to ensure his illicit as well as immoral political purposes. A great number of respected politicians, even their female family members were detained, agonized and awarded reprimand through out of the ordinary court and all sorts of attempts were ostensible to injure their reputations. Allegedly many politicians as well as businessmen were physically tortured as per the direction of Moeen. General Moeen perceptibly, tarnished the image of Army in the eyes of people by utilizing it to oust democracy, rule of law and justice. The dent to Army caused by him by injuring public confidence shall not be so uncomplicated to alleviate. Before the 9 th parliamentary election question of legitimacy of the Army backed caretaker government as well as actions was raised by some conscious citizens. It was really surprising that at that time the supreme leader of Awami League (AL), Sheikh Hasina vowed to legalize every action if secured victory in election. Undoubtly; by declaring so AL delivers a weapon in the hands of BNP to say that there was a 'understanding' between the two. Again the recent confession made by Abdul Jalil, a veteran leader of AL, regarding furtive agreement between AL and caretaker government strengthen the suspicion as well as claim raised by BNP. The formation of any democratic government should remain above any sort of doubt or mistrust and that's why an exact clarification of Jalil's confession is highly required otherwise it shall not be surprising if BNP accompanied by minor oppositions again raise a claim for interim election. The trial of Dr. Fakruddin Ahmed as well as retired Army chief General Moeen U Ahmed is highly demanded for shake of justice. If the two remain untried apparently then in future many evil-minded power holders may attempt to usurp the powers through unconstitutional manner. But AL government already took a shocking standing as expressed by Ashraful Islam, secretary of AL, not to take any steps against the two. It needs to be realized that such attitude on the part of AL ostensibly make political scenario critical for themselves. However, Sheikh Hasina promised to legalize every step of the caretaker government in an extra-ordinary Army backed regime and that's why; such avowal may not bears paramount significance. It may be either under pressure or furtive agreement. Both the usurpers conspired against the nation by means of fraudulent practices. They conspired in opposition to constitution, rule of law and even democracy. It is unfortunate that after rebirth of democracy these conspirators still exist safe in abroad and popular believe prevail that there is a green signal on the part of AL government to them. The people never voted for AL to provide shelters for any usurper or conspirators and to keep people in confidence it should be one of the prime concerns for AL government to ensure as well as arrange instantaneous trial of these usurpers. receive the latest by email: subscribe to weekly blitz's free mailing list Comment on this item |
