Bona fide steps required controlling BCL
by Nazrul Islam Khan http://www.weeklyblitz.net/303/bona-fide-steps-required-controlling-bcl
Student politics has become a debatable issue since a few years although sparking history behind it cannot be ignored. A large section of the people bolster for annulment of it as it fails to serves any positive purpose rather in the name of politics some students engage in negative activities that are sufficient to pollute the land. It is unfortunate that nowadays-general students do not find any interest in it due to various justified grounds. After formation of Awami League government through a paramount victory it was just and fair on the part of people to expect a constructive change in this field. But the reckless activities of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), students wing of AL, already frustrated people. This is the high time for AL to give attention in implementing the election's promises. They have the vision of 2021 and evidently, a long walk remain to overcome. If their future leaders engaged in extortion, hijacking as well as divergent unethical and illegal actions then who will bear challenges to satisfy the promises to people. Political leaders, civil society, as well as well wishers of AL advised the prime minister for controlling BCL as otherwise any success of the government shall be bound to be meaningless. But in the true sense the prime minister perturbed all of them. In fact, some AL leaders patronize the students' wing to secure illicit purposes otherwise police never fear to capture them even after committing heinous offences. People also experienced that police assisted BCL activists to escape after committing offences by using police van. The political utilization of police evidently, is the prime ground behind its failure to be entrusted with public confidence. Turmoil among BCL activists due to interior tribulations has become a common scenario. Very often they engage in melees with rival faction of the same organization with sticks and even firearms that is sufficient to spoil sound learning environment. Notably from many institutions they already ousted some organizations believing diverse faith to ensure absolute ascendancy and in doing so assassination of rival's leader was also experienced. Undoubtly; heinous actions of BCL tarnish image of the government as it cannot escape from the liability. Recently, in Pirojpur a number of local Chhatra League leaders raped some school going girls by means of fraudulent practices and captured the scenes by video recorder to make it available in local shops. Later police captured some CDs from different shops after publishing the atrocious event by a journalist. The families of the innocent girls are obviously; in embarrassment but almost certainly no one exist to ensure apposite remedy. The government as well as local AL leaders must realize that people never voted for them to patronize such black sheep. It may be noted that the shocking event is not an exception rather any conscious citizen may talk about a large number of crimes belonging to the above-mentioned category committed by Chhatra League activists. Recently, the ambassador of Netherlands in a seminar expressed deep dissatisfaction towards BCL for committing another rape in Kolaroa Upa-zilla where ten activists raped a girl reading in class seven respectively. Most probably the moral base of BCL activists already collapsed. No vision can be implemented by these moral baseless future leaders unless prompt steps are taken to provide training on ethics as well as morality. In fact, the recent actions of Chhatra League in the name of student politics are not student politics at all. It needs to be remembered that bona fide steps are immediately required to control BCL otherwise AL government shall be the ultimate victim. receive the latest by email: subscribe to weekly blitz's free mailing list Comment on this item |
