Norway based Nobel Prize Committee declared US President Barack Hussain Obama as the recipient of their Peace Prize for 2009. In 2008, the same prize went to former Vice President Al Gore, who was in the Clinton government. And in 2007, Nobel Peace Prize went to Dr. Muhammed Yunus of Bangladesh [founder of Grameen Bank], who also is a family friend of Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. In his reaction, Barack Obama said, he does not deserve this prize. Well, at least an honest confession from him. Whatever reaction, the American President might give, it is true, this prize has put him once again at the forefront of controversy and he possibly is turning to be a subject of laughter in many American parties for next few days. Before, commenting on this new episode of Nobel Prize to Obama, let me ask a few questions to those esteemed people in Norway, who decide about this prestigious prize. Nobel Prize was not given to Mahatma Gandhi of India or Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Bangladesh, both Golden sons of the soil, who not only has terrific contributions to their nations, but even played extremely important role in promoting democracy and peace in the global politics. Should the Nobel committee give the prize to Mahatma Gandhi in India and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Bangladesh, it would not only be appreciated in the world, but by giving the Nobel Peace Prize to these Heroes of the nations, the dignity of the prize itself would have been much increased. But, for reason unknown they ignored Gandhi and Mujib while considered questioned man like Obama. For the first time, Nobel Peace Prize has certainly drawn severe criticism around the world for choosing Barack Obama, who assumed office early 2009 and so far achieved nothing, which could at least fit him for this prestigious award, except the fact that, Obama is a good orator, who is continuing to give oly hopes and empty promises to American and international community. Till date, Obama has been able to nothing, which would at least prove that, he was having minimum qualification for the Nobel Peace Prize. Some of the newspapers even in Bangladesh are continuing to show great surpise at this ridiculous decision of the Nobel Committee in naming Obama. I have personal experience with Barack Hussain Obama, which surely convinced me that this man does not deserve to be given this award. When I was arrested by the Islamist coalition government in Bangladesh in 2003 [November 29] while I was on my way to Tel Aviv for attending a Peace Conference and subsequently was severely tortured in the name of interrogation and imprisoned for 17 months, my Jewish brother and Chicago-based activist Dr. Richard L Benkin sent letters to members of US Congress and Senate seeking their help for my release. At that time, he also approached the Senator of Illinous, who was none but Barack Hussain Obama. A large number of members of US Congress and Senate, including Rep. Mark Steven Kirk [Rep-Il] quickly joined the efforts in setting me free from Bangladeshi prison. But, Barack Obama? He clearly ignored my case, when he heard from Dr. Benkin that I was arrested in Bangladesh for promoting inter-faith harmony and for advocating relations between Bangladesh and Israel. No doubt, Obama was unwilling to make the Islamists in Bangladeshi administration as well as anti-Israel elements in the world, unhappy, by supporting me. When Republicans were in administration in Washington, US embassy in Bangladesh were regularly monitoring my case and were attending the trials. They were keeping regular contacts with me, inquiring about my safety and security. But, soon after Obama came in power, things changed for me. US embassy in Bangladesh has stopped thinking about my case, possibly, and never contacted me or attended the trials, although the trial is at the most crusial stage now, as witnesses are appearing on a regular basis. It may be mentioned here that, Islamist coalition government in Bangladesh brought sedition, treason and blasphemy charges against me for advocating inter-faith harmony, for demanding relations between Bangladesh and Israel and for condemning Jihad. According to Bangladeshi law, sedition bears capital punishment. Since Obama came in power, US embassy in Dhaka has excluded my name from the list of guests, who are invited at the National Day reception each year. Possibly, the present US administration is unwilling to keep any contact with a Muslim Zionist, who opposes Jihad and condemns Holocaust denial and criticizes suicide bombing and other forms of atrocities of Islamists. If the Nobel Prize Committee considered Obama for the Peace Prize for all such 'qualifications', then surely I have nothing to say.
