Extortionist threatens Blitz editor

Weekly Blitz editor Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury received a phone call on November 10, 2009 at 11:26 pm from a local cell phone number 01914875741 from a person who claimed to be Jishan, kingpin of notorious terror group named Jishan Group. Earlier another man named Jamil called the Blitz editor's residence two hours back from another cell phone number 01824102942. Jamil was also looking for the Weekly Blitz editor.

In the phone call, the man claiming to be terrorist Jishan demanded TK. 400,000 as extortion from him for covering legal expenses of the terrorists of the group who are facing numerous criminal charges.

When the Blitz editor denied to pay any such money, the man from the other side threatened the Weekly Blitz editor Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury of dire consequence.

In recent months, law and order situation in Bangladesh has greatly deteriorated and massive extortions are continuing in the country by members of various terror group under political shelter.

The matter of such phone call was immediately brought into notice of several officials of law enforcing agencies in Bangladesh.
