Ishrat Akhtar Rekha and Nupur Akhter – two female Jihadists of notorious Islamist militancy group Hizbut Towhid were arrested from Barisal district, which is located at the southern part of Bangladesh. Members of law enforcing agencies seized Hizbut Towhid pamphlets, Jihadists books and DVD and other materials, proving involvement of these female members of the Islamist group in giving instigation to innocent people towards killing non-Muslims in the name of 'Holy War'.
Though police arrested the girls on specific allegation of distributing Jihadist materials, Bangladeshi government is yet to ban such notorious publications of Hizbut Towhid despite the fact that, most of these materials are either against religious harmony or democracy itself. Hizbut Towhid terms women in politics as 'prostitutes'.
Hizbut Towhid was established by Bayejid Khan Panni, who claims him to be 'imam-uz-zaman' [supreme leader] of the Muslims. He gives his own way of interpretation of Koran, Islam and the Prophet of Islam.
Bayejid Khan Panni terms United States and the West as 'main enemy of Islam'. He encourages members of this notorious group in waging war against non-Muslims and the West. He also conspires to transform Bangladesh into a Caliphate State under his own leadership.
In recent years, Hizbut Towhid is spreading wings in various countries in the world. It is also sending its own cadres and Jihadists to various Western destinations with specific agenda of waging Jihad. It is learnt that Hizbut Towhid activists are entering the West under various covers.
Bangladesh government banned notorious Islamist group, Hizbut Tahrir in October last year. But, such actions are yet to be taken against Hizbut Towhid for reason unknown. It is learnt that some influential ministers in the present government are prescribing the government to remain 'reluctant' on Hizbut Towhid.
Kingpin of Hizbut Towhid, Bayejid Khan Panni wrote a book and also released a DVD titled 'Dajjal' which mostly contain offensive remarks on Jews and Christians as well the Western world. In this book and DVD, Bayejid Panni gives instigations in waging war against Jews and Christians. Bangladesh government is yet to ban these notorious publications.
