Nobel Laureate and founding father of Grameen Bank, Dr. Muhammed Yunus is accused of grabbing land in Bangladesh. Libra Pharmaceuticals filed a case against the Grameen Bank founder, saying that Yunus and 13 others encroached upon the company land. The Joint District Judges Court-1 issued the summons after Libra managing director Roushan Alam lodged the complaint. According the case, Yunus, also chief patron of Grameen Telecom, and 13 other officials of the company forcibly took possession of 15.6 acres under Gazipur Sadar upazila. This is for the first time since winning the Nobel Peace Prize, Dr. Yunus is summoned by any court on criminal charge. Weekly Blitz earlier published a number of investigative reports on activities of Grameen Bank, where it was shown how this mere personal enterprise of Dr. Yunus is continuing to make false propaganda with the aim of attaining attention of the international community. Grameen Bank is also accused of taking exorbitant amount of interest from the borrowers, most of whom are rural people.
