English language daily newspaper The New Nation is continuing to use web address owned by vernacular daily Ittefaq. According to information, Daily Ittefaq one of the oldest dailies in Bangladesh was earlier owned by sons and daughters of late journalist Tofajjal Hussain Manik Mia. Web address of this newspaper is www.ittefaq.com. Later, through an agreement concluded between eldest son of Manik Mia, Barrister Moinul Hussain and other members of Manik Mia family, Barrister Moinul sold his shares in Daily Ittefaq in exchange of a property and cash worth a few hundred million Taka. After signing this agreement, Barrister Moinul Hussain does not have any legal right on the newspaper or its web address. But, he is continuing to use the web address of Daily Ittefaq, wherefrom his English language daily The New Nation is continuing its online edition. On the other hand, Daily Ittefaq has shifted to another web address www.ittefaq.com.bd, wherefrom the online edition of this vernacular daily is continuing to publish. Commenting on using web address of another newspaper by The New Nation, an web expert told Weekly Blitz that, possibly the domain registration of www.ittefaq.com site was done by the owners of this English language newspaper, while they were also owning shares in vernacular daily Ittefaq. But, after they sold right and title of this newspaper to other share holders, they do not have moral right to continue using the web address of the vernacular daily. On condition of anonymity, another source told Weekly Blitz that, The New Nation is continuing to use the web address of Daily Ittefaq to cash the advantage of this vernacular dailies huge popularity. "They might be trying to deceive the potential advertisers who would place advertisements on the online edition of The New Nation by taking advantage of using the higher number of hits people would by mistake make on Daily Ittefaq's site.
