Beximco boss appointed as IFIC Bank Chairman

Salman F Rahman, vice chairman of Beximco Group, largest industrial conglomerate in Bangladesh has been unanimously elected chairman of IFIC Bank Limited, a pioneer financial institution in the country. Salman Rahman is a sponsor shareholder of IFIC bank.

Beximco is the largest industrial conglomerate in Bangladesh employing more than 35,000 people. It has interests in textile, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, real estate, jute, IT and media sectors. It owns English language daily The Independent as well as is starting a private television channel soon. With a turnover of TK. 18.5 billion until 2009 – the latest figures available – Beximco has five publicly listed companies and sixteen private companies in the country. It also has branches in a number of countries in the world.

Salman F Rahman heads the board of editors of The Independent, and also helms the Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries. He also is the chairman of the board of governors of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute, a private research firm and president of Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies. Salman Rahman is the chairman of Abahani Limited, one of the leading Premier Division sporting clubs in football, cricket and hockey.
