LATEST: FROM SUNDAY MORNING, ACCESS TO FACEBOOK SITE FROM BANGLADESH HAS AGAIN BEEN POSSIBLE. Most popular social networking site Facebook possibly has again been blocked in Bangladesh, just after seven weeks of withdrawing the earlier blocking. Weekly Blitz news desk team has been trying to log on to Facebook page during early hours of August 8, 2010. But each time, the Facebook site could not be entered from Bangladesh. None of the officials with the departments concerned could be contacted as Saturdays are public holidays in Bangaldesh. Bangla language daily Manabzamin published a report on August 6, 2010 stating that Facebook is continuing several fake pages using the names of Bangladeshi Prime Minister and leader of the opposition. Most of such pages are containing defamatory contents. It may be mentioned here that, a person named Irad Ahmed Siddiki [son of Chowdhury Tanvir Ahmed Siddiki, who was expelled from Bangladesh Nationalist Party] is continuing several advertisements on Facebook, mostly containing offensive remarks on Bangladeshi politicians, especially the Prime Minister and leader of the opposition. It is apprehended that, Irad Ahmed Siddiki might have hands behind the fake pages on Facebook.
