OffendedReader comment on: Why are Jews so powerful and Muslims so powerless? Submitted by Sgore from USA (United States), Jan 12, 2010 01:06 Muslims have made a tremendous number of contributions in scientific, artistic, mathematic and various other fields throughout history. A short search online would produce a number of signifigant results in that area, yet none such research appears to have been done going into this article. Of course education is important, and of course additional schools in any area wouldn be an invaluble resource, but to make the claim that you have in the final sentence of your article is an insult to both Muslims who are attending universities around the world, and to those who are faced with having to deal with that stereotype on a daily basis thanks to extremists who distort their beliefs. I myself am a Jewish American, offended by the idea perpetuated in both the article and the comment above me that Jews are somehow inherently more controling on the world stage than Muslims. The people that you've listed do happen to be Jewish, but it isn't as if that's the reason they've made it to where they are today as both texts have just implied (the latter comment in a particularly offensive way, refering to Jews as parasites and perpetuating various conspiracy theories regarding Judiasm, the Media and Albert Einstein), just as accomplished people of the Islamic, Christian or any other faith didn't make it to where they are because they were members of that faith. They're individuals who, through their own hard work and merit made it to where they currently are. Claims to the opposite have fueled Anti-Semetic stereotypes throughout history, just as the claims this article is making regarding Muslims are the kind that fuel related stereotypes in those areas. In places where extremism runs rampent, and tolerence for those who are different is slim, access to a broad level of education would do wonders. In fact, education is essential for success in any area, but if you agree with that, then please promote education without perpetuating these stereotypes, all they do is serve as an unhelpful diversion.
