Why did Israel leak that it had infiltrated Syria's military?

There definitely is a build up of hostilities coming between Syrian and Israel. Earlier this week, the Jerusalem Post ran an unusual story. They leaked that Israel had done a massive infiltration of Syria's military. This should make Syria back down for a while, which could be why they leaked the news rather than keeping the military advantage of continued secrecy.
