When Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute [BSTI] was asked as to how the sellers and bottlers of edible oil in Bangladesh are allowed to sell palm oil in the name of refined soya bean oil, it declined to make any comments. It is learnt from numerous sources that a racket of unscrupulous traders manager the officials and experts of BSTI through heavy bribes, thus ensuring the uninterrupted selling of falsely declared edible oil in the local market. It is also learnt that, Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited, an enterprise of Malaysian Palm Oil Council sells few brands of "soya bean" oil in Bangladesh, such as Rupchanda, Meizan etc, which are in fact used cooking oil or palm oil in most cases. It may be mentioned here that, Malaysia mainly exports Palm Oil to the world market, while Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited has also been importing the same product for years. It is interesting to note that while the company is importing palm oil, how it is being able selling "refined soya bean oil" to Bangladeshi consumers.

Baburchi sunflower oil goes into Middle East market

Sunflower oil is the non-volatile oil expressed from sunflower [Helianthus annuus] seeds. Sunflower oil is commonly used in food as frying oil, and in cosmetic formulations as an emollient. Sunflower oil was first industrially produced in 1835 in the Russian Empire. World's largest sunflower oil producers now are Ukraine and Russia. In recent years, China has also joined the international market as one of the major exporters of sunflower oil. There are a variety of health benefits associated with the consumption of sunflower oil. Sunflower oil is high in the essential vitamin E and low in saturated fat. The two most common types of sunflower oil are linoleic and high oleic. Linoleic sunflower oil is common cooking oil that has high levels of polyunsaturated fat. It is also known for having a clean taste and low levels of trans fat. High oleic sunflower oils are classified as having monounsaturated levels of 80% and above. Newer versions of sunflower oil have been developed as a hybrid containing linoleic acid. They have monounsaturated levels lower than other oleic sunflower oils. The hybrid oil also has lower saturated fat levels than linoleic sunflower oil. Restaurants and food manufacturers are becoming aware of the health benefits of sunflower oil.

In all of the above examples, every feat of construction was attempted only after it was deemed feasible. Since there wasn't a World Bank or similar donors available, most project financing came from the ruler's coffers and with solid reasoning. The financing ensured the lure and promise of more wealth from tax collections and improving the lives of their subjects. Simply, it was good business and ensured the rulers could then afford whimsical luxuries and showcase their success through massive opulent palaces or monuments.

He scolded officials, saying why such things do not come in their sight and querying could the officials of the funfair work like this, had they had the attitude befitting master, affection for their work sites and conscience to serve the people. Plucking up weeds can be done easily with hands as it is different from updating facilities, he added.

Grameen Bank belongs to Government BUT Government belongs to whom?

It is the people who elected the government therefore the government should belong to the people. IS IT THE CASE IN BANGLADESH? By government belonging to the people the writer means to say, that the government is answerable to the people at all times and at all turns in governance, during its tenure of five years. The government must explain all its action and inaction and react to all the pleasures and displeasures of the people at all times during its elected term. The right place to visibly see the workings of the government should have been the parliament, but during the last almost two decades of governance by BAL and BNP the parliament have been consciously made into a powerful obedient and ineffective orchestra playing to the whims of the two female Prime Ministers. Boycotting parliament has become a fashion norm by the opposition parties, led by either BAL or BNP in turns. While in power both BAL and BNP does one thing best, and that is try all means to perpetuate their power.

Equality of Religion

Those who justify this reversal consider the change instead an authentic organic development of church teaching. Fr. Regis Scanlon, O.F.M. Cap. ( Homiletic and Pastoral Review, Jan, 2011) for example, argues, with reference to Dei Verbum (12) and Lumen Gentium (25), that official church teaching depends upon what the church intended by the teaching at the time of the teaching. He further points to the fact that Dignitatis Humanae is not a "doctrinal" document but rather a "pastoral" document capable of evolving depending upon the historical situation. The suggestion here is that the Church intended - or made allowances for - Pius IX's teaching to change depending on whether or not the Church was in a high enough position to exert her power and influence over both the state and the faithful. Thus, when the church is on top and holds all the cards - as was (in Father Scanlon's view) the case in many places in 1864 - religious freedom is banned. When She is on the bottom - as She is today in many places - then religious freedom is permitted and dialogue and ecumenism becomes the name of the game.

Hillary's uphill task on the slippery Political hills of Bangladesh

Hillary herself has the bitter experience of being tactfully thrown out of the American presidential race at her most successful stage in her campaign primaries by Mr. Obama, the present incumbent president of USA, who entered the race late, but trumped eventually. She not only accepted defeat, but is now serving the administration of her one time fierce opponent, most successfully. The question arises "WHY"? The answer is simple, in USA like most other developed and developing countries, the COUNTRY comes first, but in Bangladeshi political context the families come first, which unfortunately puts the country second and in some cases the last. The tragedy is all the political stalwarts, who made waves in the political arena of Bangladesh, of early and late seventies somehow ended up towing the family line, thus giving an international impression of a two family run country. Hillary is not coming with buntings, but will deliver some bashes also though diplomatically on both side of the political divide. Expectations are high and both sides seem to be preparing for getting the sympathies of the most powerful lady from the most powerful country on Earth.

As petrol is imported from India the dealers are fleeced by Indian brokers. When it enters Nepal petrol is adulterated by brokers and thieves of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). Due to high level of corruption and such degenerating tendencies, the price of commodities has inflated victimizing the Nepalese consumers. The ministers and the government officials have sided with these corrupt brokers. No one is there to listen consumer's voice. If we are to carry out a research on money earned by the ministers of the Supply Ministry and General Directors that have served for the past decade at NOC everything will be exposed. State must nationalize the money embezzled by corrupts. It will set a precedent and discourage others from corruption in future. The Nepalese people will find huge relief if materials are directly imported to Nepal and strict rules are set against black market. If prices soar up in foreign land, of course it can be accommodated. We can have an alternative change by concentrating all forces on energy production.

Mumbai actor terms Veena Malik as fraud

She said, "One fine day we discovered that she was shooting for Madhukar's Mumbai 125 when she was actually supposed to work for Das' film. We wonder if she misrepresented to the Indian Immigration Authorities as to whose movie she was actually working for. Her manager had several invitation work letters issued to her from various production houses to back up her claim of having work in Indian cine industry. Most of these projects never even saw the sunlight. Veena Malik has played every trick in manipulating the legal system in India. She got letters and documents prepared from Indian production houses which were technically speaking incorrect and invalid. What has happened to her so-called legal notice to FHM magazine? Why has she not pursued it? If her photos were misused by the magazine, she should have gone to court. Why is she quiet on the issue now?"

The Price for Ignoring Ron Paul

It's interesting to wonder what would happen if Ron Paul ran third party. The Republicans would claim he "took" votes away from Romney and helped Obama win the election. But then, he's just as likely to take votes away from the Obama crowd, after all, he is the only true peace candidate out there. Besides, Democrats aren't stupid. They know when they're being played. I bet Ron Paul could win running as an independent, if the vote was counted honestly. Oh, there's that election fraud thing again. Just another little story the establishment media decides to ignore. I guess that's another reason I have to do the job they're supposed to be doing. Maybe if these over paid pundits would actually do some digging and some real thinking and stop chirping the song those at the top tell them to sing, the general public would actually get some decent information. But, they'd probably get fired for that so they sit in their gilded cages chirping away.

The development of treatments using collagen and human growth factors have advanced the field of wound repair significantly, but these solutions only deal with specific aspects of wound repair. "The white blood cells we use contain all the elements the body needs to repair itself," says Shirvan, adding that the product contains the full complement of various cells that produce the cell messenger and growth factor molecules that might be missing as the body attempts to repair the wound.

"This advance is one important step forward," says Reubinoff. "Human embryonic stem cells were derived more than 10 years ago. And during these years many scientists worldwide have been working on solving the problems and obstacles along the way to be able to exploit the potential for stem cell therapy. We've found a way to solve this obstacle, a concept known and existing for 20 years." In their study, the scientists show how human-derived embryonic stem cells can be grown while floating in a solution. Until now, for cultures to grow, the stem cells had to be grown on a substrate, which is extremely labor intensive and limits the number of cells developed through cultivation.

MUC1 is typically found only on cancer cells and not on healthy cells. The T-cells don't attack any cells without MUC1, meaning there are no side effects unlike traditional cancer treatments. More than 90% of different cancers have MUC1 on their cells, which indicates the potential for this vaccine.

It is a huge question in the minds of United States administration as well as intelligence agencies in particular and the entire international community of counter-terrorism specialist to determine the current strategies of Al Qaeda and its bases, especially after the death of Osama Bin Laden. While the international focus is still very much within Afghanistan and frontiers of Pakistan, which is still considered by the US administration as the base of Al Qaeda operations, it is learnt from a number of sources that Al Qaeda has basically spread in past few months onto rough mountainous areas in Indian and Pakistan portion of Kashmir as well as a vast track of areas in Nepal. Although Al Qaeda has been using the Nepalese land for past several years, especially considering its strategic advantages of finding easy hide-outs within various mountains in Nepal, since past five-sin months, Al Qaeda's presence in Nepal has greatly increased. It is learnt that the Al Qaeda jihadists have established a kind of unseen alliance with the Maoists in Nepal and under the protection of the Maoists; Al Qaeda terrorists are taking combat training.

May Day for Raising Living Standard of Working Class

It is not surprising that the some vested quarters would always hide the true history of May Day. In case of Bangladesh this is a harsh reality as most of the laborers are illiterate and some of them are very raw and quite unconscious of their minimum rights. Some of them live hand to mouth and are scared of being fired from job every moment. They seldom get their due wages. Trade Union leaders and some of the aware labor leaders speak on behalf of the oppressed laborers. But there are exceptions too. Some vested and dishonest leaders use workers tactfully and grab the lion's share, and some pretend that they act on behalf of the co-workers but they have a secret understanding with the employees and management, thus gaining from them. In any case, the struggling low-paid menial workers are the worst sufferer, as they do not have any other way but to work hard under pressure. But, with the passing of time, workers in the countries like Bangladesh are gradually becoming aware of their rights.

How Much Does Darkness Weigh?

Of course, when you talk about something like darkness, often the words can take on more than one meaning. Darkness usually means the absence of light, which is a different measure than weight. Light is measured in lumens and is relevant to the human eye, which is the instrument used to detect the light. Darkness would then be the absence of lumens relevant to the human eye's ability to detect light. So the unit used to detect the darkness comes into play in such a discussion. When figuring the weight of darkness, much of the above involves using the brain as an instrument for determination of the variables involved. What happens if instead of using the brain, we use the heart?

Hartal was a Gandhian concept and was initially used successfully against the British in British India. Hartal is made of two words, "HAR" and "TAL". HAR in Hindi or Urdu means "ALL" and TAL in Hindi or Urdu means "drum beats or musical beats". When a musician is on "har – tal" mode he is free to play any beat without any nodal or master control. Therefore hartal in general musical term means everything is allowed or "all tals can be played". But during Gandhi era it was used as a means of protest, where the people protested and disrupted all the normal means of life, which is the life blood of normalcy in any type of governance. Thus, Hartal was born as a political weapon of protest and is still used widely in the Subcontinent by the opposition political parties to vent their anger on both, issues and non-issues, depending on the political exigencies.

He also is trying to use the issues of Destiny Group's large sum donation to Liberation War Museum and Autism Foundation in convincing the policymakers in stopping the ongoing investigations into the illegal activities of Destiny Group. On April 28, Lt. Gen [Retired] Harun-Ar-Rashid tried to bluff the Finance Minister AMA Muhit by seeking an appointment by using the name of Sector Commander's Forum. Considering the importance of Sector Commander's Forum, finance minister AMA Muhit gave an appointment to Lt. Gen [Retired] Harun-Ar-Rashid and other members of the forum.
