Pakistan has always been harboring terrorism. It had earlier sheltered Al Qaeda’s Osama Bin Laden and according to latest media reports, Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of Al Qaeda, the world’s largest terrorist outfit is living in an isolated location in Pakistan. Earlier, international media reported, Zawahiri had died.

A recent UN report has expressed apprehension that an important part of the people belonging to the terror group al-Qaida are living in the Afghanistan and Pakistan border areas, including al-Qaida’s Ayman al-Zawahiri, who may be alive, but is still in a very weak condition.

A report released on Friday said a large number of al-Qaida fighters and other Taliban-related foreign extremist elements are living in different parts of Afghanistan. The 12th Report of the United Nations Analytical Support and the Member States of the Sanctions Monitoring Team have reported that an important part of the al-Qaida leadership is located in the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, where they are all linked to and working closely with al-Qaida operating in the Indian subcontinent.

According to the UN report, Al Qaeda Chief Ayman al-Zawahiri is said to be somewhere in the border area of Afghanistan and Pakistan. It may be recalled that previous reports of his death due to ill health were not confirmed, stating that al-Zawahiri was dead in Afghanistan. However, the alleged death of the al-Qaida jihadist was never confirmed.

Meanwhile, according to an intelligence source, Ayman al-Zawahiri has been receiving treatment from a Karachi-residence, while couple of selected medical officers from Pakistan Army are taking care of this notorious man.

It also said, at least five trusted accomplices of Zawahiri are also staying with him in the same house, wherefrom they are maintaining liaison with Al Qaeda members on behalf of the current chief of the global terrorist outfit.
