Karlie Kloss says no thanks to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s White House politics

Supermodel Karlie Kloss will soon have Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump as in-laws. According to anti-Trump media, Karlie ‘realizes that her marriage to Jared’s younger brother Joshua Kushner will inevitably be viewed in connection to the divisive presidency of Donald Trump’. But, Karlie Kloss has trashed this media propaganda saying she doesn’t care what people think. The supermodel, who recently became engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Joshua Kushner, has faced criticism from the anti-Trump media for choosing to be with someone who is, at least peripherally, in the Trump orbit. Joshua is the younger brother of Jared Kushner, which makes him Ivanka Trump’s brother-in-law. Kloss made clear in a new interview that she and Joshua Kushner do not share Republican Party’s politics. And while the White House senior advisors Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump may privately espouse social liberal leanings, they have hitched their careers and reputations to a president and administration that’s been criticized for being hostile to gun control, immigrants, people of color, the LGBT community and women’s access to reproductive rights and health care.

“Josh and I share a lot of the same liberal values that guide our lives and the things we stand for,” the 26-year-old model told Vogue.

Kloss and Joshua Kushner, 33, have been open about their political leanings, Vogue noted. Joshua Kushner, said to be a life-long Democrat, raised millions for an Obamacare start-up company he founded.

Joshua Kushner also attended the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., the day after Trump was inaugurated, Teen Vogue reported. The next year, he and Kloss participated in the March for Our Lives gun-control demonstration, with Kloss posting a photo of herself on Instagram, holding a sign that read, “Load minds not guns.”

While this marks the first time Karlie has opened up about her and Joshua’s political beliefs, the couple made a huge statement when they attended the Women’s March on Washington last year. The Cut also reported that despite their familial ties to President Trump, both Karlie and Josh voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

As for Karlie, don’t expect her to open up anymore about her relationship with Joshua moving forward. When Vogue tried to press on whether or not she plans on converting to Orthodox Judaism, like Ivanka did prior to marrying into the Kushner family, Karlie replied, “At the end of the day, I’ve had to make decisions based on my own moral compass — forget what the public says, forget social media. I’ve chosen to be with the man I love despite the complications.”

She continued, explaining how being hounded about her relationship is sexist. “It’s frustrating, to be honest, that the spotlight is always shifted away from my career toward my relationship,” she said. “I don’t think the same happens in conversations with men.”
