Decreased hemoglobin levels in humans indicate anemia, a disease that occurs in almost a third of the world’s population. This was told to Izvestia by a senior physician at JSC Medicina (academician Roitberg’s clinic), a doctor of the highest category Olesya Savelyeva on Friday, March 3.

According to her, anemia can be associated with a deficiency of iron, vitamin B12 and other trace elements important for the body.

“When this disease occurs, a person feels fatigue, pain in the head and muscles. A burning feeling appears on the tongue, memory and sleep worsen, nervous excitability and anxiety levels increase. Symptoms of anemia are also blanching of the skin and mucous membranes, hair loss and brittleness, ”said Savelyeva.

She noted that low levels of hemoglobin in the blood can be indicated by disturbances in the functioning of the cardiovascular system, a decrease in pressure and muscle tone. Also, a person may experience a weakening of the immune system, lack of appetite. Children have impaired memory, intelligence and concentration.

“In women, low hemoglobin leads to menstrual irregularities. During pregnancy, this condition is especially dangerous. If the fetus does not receive the necessary amount of micronutrients, this can lead to the fact that the child is born with a low birth weight, as well as with serious developmental disorders. With iron deficiency anemia in women, the risk of premature birth and miscarriage increases, ”the doctor warned.

The day before, endocrinologist Natalia Tananakina told Izvestia about the benefits and harms of fish oil. So, its use supports the work of the heart and brain, improves mental state, protects joints and bones. However, when taking fish oil, it is worth observing the measure, since an excess of this substance can lead to negative consequences.
