A Hindu student of Jagannath University (JnU) went into hiding after insulting the Prophet of Islam on social media. According to information, Tithi Sarkar, a third-year student of the Zoology department of JnU had made derogatory remarks against Islam, Muslims, and the Prophet Mohammad. Tithi is a member of the World Hindu Struggle Council, an organization operated from India by a fugitive. He also is active on a Facebook group named Sanatan Hindu, where over four hundred thousand Hindus from Bangladesh and India have been regularly plotting anti-Islam and anti-Bangladesh conspiracies, while they are backed by some members of the radical Hinduist terror outfits.

A credible source said, Tithi Sarkar might have entered India through the land-route with her boyfriend, while another source said, she must be hiding inside Bangladesh to skip legal consequences. Ever since going into hiding, Tithi has switched off her mobile phone.

Meanwhile, Jagannath University’s source said, they had suspended Tithi Sarkar for inciting communal riots by defaming Islam, Muslims, and the Prophet.

Following her outrageous remarks on social media, Tithi was issued a temporary suspension letter for 10 days by the university authorities, where she was asked to explain reasons for not being expelled permanently. The order read: “Jagannath University student of Zoology (3rd year), Tithy Sarkar, with roll B- 170604057, mocked Prophet Muhammad on social media platform Facebook and thereby hurt religious sentiments. As per University laws, 2005 wef Section 11 (10), you are suspended from the university until further notice. You should explain within 10 days as to why you should not be permanently expelled.”

Immediately after her social media post came into the attention of the university authorities, a four-member committee led by Prof AKM Moniruzzaman, dean of business studies faculty and also a syndicate member of the university was formed to investigate the matter. Tithi Sarkar was also expelled from her post of office secretary of the JnU unit of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad.

Immediately after being caught of making offensive remarks on her social media account, Tithi Sarkar, as usual too had told the law enforcement agencies that her account was “hacked”. Tithi’s elder sister Smriti Rani Sarker had filed a general diary with the Pallabi police station in Dhaka claiming her younger sister’s Facebook account was “hacked”.

Meanwhile, Tithi’s family members are misleading Indian media in particular by falsely claiming that the Hindu girl has gone missing.
