25% increase in the number of passengers during March

The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that the statistics showed an increase in the number of passengers during March 2023, with a total of 3,516,939, an increase of 25% compared to the same month of last year.
The authority added, through its official account on Twitter, that the records for the number of passengers that were recorded during the months of February and March 2023 are the highest ever for these two months, since the start of operations at both Hamad and Doha International Airports.
The preliminary air transport statistics issued by the Authority for the month of March 2023 indicated that there was an increase in aircraft movements by 19,561 air movements, an increase of 12.9% compared to the same month last year.
The statistics also showed a decrease in the movement of freight and mail during the month of March from 217,676 in 2022 to 206,276 in 2023, with an estimated decline of 5.2% compared to the same month of last year.
In the same context, Hamad International Airport achieved a great achievement during the past year, recording an annual increase of 101.9%, as it witnessed a significant increase in passenger traffic, receiving 35,734,243 passengers. The airport also witnessed an increase in the total aircraft movement, reaching 217,875 aircraft, an increase of 28.2% compared to 2021. The number of companies operating at the airport increased by the end of last year to 44 companies, and the airport currently offers flights to more than 170 destinations around the world.
Hamad International Airport was also ranked as the second best airport in the world at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023. The airport also won the Best Shopping Airport in the World and Best Airport in the Middle East award for the ninth time in a row. Hamad International Airport continues to grow, connecting global travelers through its world-class terminals – providing great options for travelers and businesses alike. In the current year 2023, Hamad International Airport embarked on Phase B of its expansion plan in January, increasing its capacity to more than 70 million passengers and building two new concourses within the existing terminal. As part of Qatar National Vision 2030, HIA also plans to boost its sustainability efforts, by investing in new technologies and introducing these industry firsts as it looks to maintain its dominance in the aviation industry.
