Al Meera is looking into expansion plans in all regions

Al Meera Consumer Goods Company held its annual ordinary general meeting via the Internet, in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah Abdulaziz Turki Al Subaie, Chairman of the Board of Directors, members of the Board of Directors, shareholders and investors.
During the meeting, the participants discussed all the items on the agenda, including hearing and approving the report of the Board of Directors for the year ending on December 31, 2022, as well as approving the future plans of the company.
Likewise, the participants in the meeting approved the Board of Directors’ recommendation to distribute cash dividends amounting to 90 million riyals from the nominal value of the share at a rate of 0.45 riyals per share, in addition to a share premium of 3%, the approval of the external auditor’s report, and the discussion of the company’s financial statements for the same year.
In addition, the General Assembly approved the thirteenth corporate governance report of Al Meera, absolving the members of the Board of Directors from their responsibilities and determining their remuneration for the year ending on December 31, 2022. It also approved appointing an external auditor for the fiscal year 2023 and determining his fees.
During the past year, Al Meera’s sales amounted to 2.8 billion Qatari Riyals, with a total profit of 548.8 million Qatari Riyals. Likewise, the income generated from renting shops witnessed a significant increase, recording total profits of 83.2 million riyals, an increase of 1.9 million riyals compared to the same period in 2021, and the net profit attributable to shareholders increased to 196.6 million riyals during 2022, which contributed to the stability of The average earnings per share is 0.98 riyals.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Abdullah Abdulaziz Turki Al-Subaie, Chairman of the Board of Directors, expressed his welcome to the attendees, and extended his deepest thanks, gratitude and congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the country, for the wise directives of His Highness and his generous support for the path of growth and development and the promotion of Security in the State of Qatar, and to His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and to His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, and His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and to all the Qatari people for organizing The impressive and distinguished hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which experts consider to be the best in the history of the tournament.
Commenting on the distinguished performance of Al Meera during 2022, Al Subaie said: “Last year was not only special for Al Meera, but for the State of Qatar as a whole, in hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the largest football event in the world for the first time in the Arab world and the Middle East. As a leading national company that operates the largest network of retail branches in the country, Al Meera played a vital role in the success of the 2022 FIFA World Cup by facilitating local consumers, as well as guests and visitors who flocked to Doha from all over the world, to obtain their basic needs of commodities and food products. during the tournament. To this end, Al Meera opened 10 temporary branches in locations where football fans were present, in addition to its permanent branches that exceed 60 branches. It also intensified its expansion plans during the same year by opening a new branch in Al Karaana area, and the first self-propelled branch in Qatar Energy Tower in Al-Dafna in the West Bay, two branches in Lusail City, two new branches of its “Mar” brand stores in two metro stations, the re-launch of the Al Meera floating boat near Al Safliya Island, and the provision of shopping services from Al Meera through the Talabat application. In addition, we revealed our first steps towards launching fully automated “Al Meera Smart” stores without payment boxes, the first of their kind in Qatar, enabling customers to enjoy a more convenient and faster shopping experience supported by modern technology.

Moreover, the meeting of the General Assembly included revealing Al Meera’s expansion steps during the coming period and enhancing its access to all regions of the country in line with the urban development plan, while increasing its presence at the same time on various e-commerce platforms and Al Meera Online.
