Announcing the final lists of candidates at the Chamber of Commerce

The committee supervising the procedures for electing the Board of Directors of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the final list of names of candidates for the elections of the Chamber’s Board of Directors for the “seventh session” 2023.
The eight sectors for which they are nominated, according to the regulation for the mechanism for holding elections to the Chamber’s Board of Directors, include: the trade sector (5 representatives), the contracting sector (4 representatives), the industry sector (3 representatives), the services sector (one representative), and the agricultural sector. (one representative), the banking sector (one representative), the tourism sector (one representative), and the insurance sector (one representative).
According to the final list of candidates announced by the committee, the trade sector included 8 candidates, who are: Muhammad Mahdi Ajian Al Ahbabi, Rashid Hamad Hazaa Hamad Al Athba, Muhammad Sultan Abdullah Al Ali, Khalid Klifekh Khaled Al Hajri, Muhammad Jawhar Saeed Muhammad Al Muhammad, Abdul Rahman Abdul Jalil Abdul Ghani Al Abdul Ghani, Muhammad Ali Iskandar, and Ali Jassim Jabr Tawar Al Kuwari.
The contracting sector included 6 candidates, who are: Muhammad Ahmed Muhammad Ali Al-Obaidli, Nasser Suleiman Haidar Al-Haidar, Ahmed Muhammad Sultan Al-Jaber, Nasser Ahmed Al-Meer, Shaheen Muhammad Lahdan Al-Muhannadi, and Ali Abdul Latif Al-Misnad. The industry sector also included 6 candidates, who are: Abdul Allah Muhammad Abdul Rahim Al Emadi, Abdul Rahman Abdullah Ibrahim Al Ansari, Fahd Muhammad Fahd Buzweer, Khaled Jabr Sultan Al Kuwari, Ali Hassan Ibrahim Al Emadi, and Muhammad Talib Muhammad Al Khoury.
There was one candidate in the services sector, Ibtihaj Muhammad Ahmed Al-Ahmadani, and in the tourism sector one candidate as well, namely: Sheikh Hamad bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Ahmed Al Thani, and in the agricultural sector, the candidate: Muhammad Ahmed Khalifa Al Tawar Al-Kuwari, and in the insurance sector, the candidate: Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Jassim Al Thani, and in the banking sector, the nominee: Rashid Nasser Saree Al Kaabi.
The Committee notes that the process of electing the Board of Directors of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be within the Chamber’s General Assembly meeting, which will announce the date and place of its convening at least fifteen days before the date of the Assembly, as the list of candidates shows that the sectors that will be subject to competition in the elections are sectors There will be no competition for the rest of the sectors, namely: insurance, agriculture, tourism, services, and banks, and their seats have been decided by acclamation.
The committee stated that, according to Article No. 9 of the Chamber’s board of directors’ election bylaw, a candidate may not change the sector for which he submitted his candidacy after announcing the list of candidates, while any candidate may withdraw from the nomination 15 days before the date of the General Assembly.
It is noteworthy that His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry has issued Decision No. 18 of 2023 to form a committee to elect the members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, name its members and define its terms of reference. Its work includes the times of its meetings and the rules necessary for the exercise of its competencies. The committee holds its meetings at the Ministry’s headquarters or elsewhere as it deems appropriate. It may also hold its meetings by means of visual communication. The committee issues its decisions and recommendations by the majority of votes, and when the votes are equal, the side from which the chairman is favored.
