Because of Camilla, King Charles won’t move to Buckingham Palace

Camilla, who is underway of abandoning the word “consort” from her titles and become Queen Camilla with the active efforts of palace officials has serious dislike for Buckingham Palace, which has compelled King Charles from taking decision of never shifting there. According to media reports, Charles currently is looking for a massive reconstruction and remodeling of the Buckingham Palace by spending over £369 million, while a source told The Sunday Times that Charles is “no fan of ‘the big house’, as he calls the Palace. He doesn’t see it as a viable future home or a house that’s fit for purpose in the modern world. He feels that its upkeep, both from a cost and environmental perspective, is not sustainable”.

The new monarch is willing to use Buckingham Palace for official business wherever practicable. It may be mentioned here that, maintenance cost of the Buckingham Palace is massive, although no one knows the exact figure.

Commenting on King Charles’ decision of not shifting to Buckingham Palace and open it to public, many people are leaving comments on social media. Here are few of those comments:

Kevin: The British monarchy’s pomp and glamour keeps the island nation in the North Sea from quickly falling into irrelevance. It draws much attention to the UK through intense media coverage of all things Royal, drawing millions of tourists every year. That makes the British Monarchy one of the best moneymakers for Britain. Public money spent on modernizing and preserving publicly owned Buckingham Palace as a symbol of the monarchy provides an outstanding return on investment.

Katie: UK headed for a brutal recession and rough winter with the highest energy prices in the country’s history, but sure the palace needs renovations.

Laura: The place is too big for two people. That is way too ostentatious. Even with staff, it is just not ok. Is it ok to have a closed off wing for a residence? Sure. A dedicated section for official business? Yes.

Terry: I shall assume that isn’t the Royal money that will be used, but much needed money for the people, right?

Colin: As a brit living in the USA and reading the comments it seems to me none of you have a clue of what is happening with the royals. They are a great asset to the country and bring in billions of pounds from tourism and the house you are all so concerned about has tons of asbestos in the ceilings and walls, that have to be removed now adays by special companies. Here in the USA, you all go crazy if anyone finds one once of a hazard type of material. Oh, by the way I have not read anyone complain about Trump spending millions of dollars trying to play GOLF every weekend on our tax dollars. And for those who do not understand that the Queen or King are not kept by the country they are employed by the British government AND pay TAXES just like everyone else, but when a high-level guest arrives from another country the royals have to pay to dine and feed them, and they expect to go to Buckingham Palace.

Boris: Well that’s good, they have no homeless or debt problems at all in their country…that’s amazing that they can spend that much money on a building since everyone in their country is properly fed and housed. Amazing I tell you!

Audrey: He doesn’t like the palace but he wants the public to go for 369 million pounds to renovate it. One more reason to eliminate monarchy.

Ervin: why do we need king’s and queens in 21st century? Why do we need monarchy… ask yourself… this money could have used for well being of British citizens…the working mothers, working nurses, the elderly and so many others….all this looted wealth needs to be given back to the former colonies… formal apology should be made instead of embellishing the palaces.

Joshua: The Family does not own a lot of the properties they go to, they belong to the country, and as the landlords they are responsible for the upkeep. You can go on line and check and see who owns what. And as for Trump only taking one-dollar salary, another publicity stunt any know where the money went. For a so called super rich man he certainly begs for a lot of donations for his bills. And he spent over 7 trillion dollars doing absolutely nothing except give his rich cronies huge tax rebaits.

Sandy: At his age by the time the restoration is done, he may live there a couple years before William will be King. Then queue another ‘restoration’ before he moves in. My wallet cringed from all the way over here in the US.

Jackie: Who pays for that? People are being ravaged by inflation, can’t keep up with rent and rising food costs and this nobody is going to spend hundreds of millions to renovate the “big house”? King of wasteful spending. Get rid of the monarchy!

Julia: How about turning it in a drug prevention center to curb the homeless rate / orphanage / something for the public. It is so tiring to see people living in palaces and mega mansions only amplifying their ego when upkeep and yearly maintenance costs could go toward improving the state and making a long lasting contribution to society.

Phillip: Do the royal taxpayers (who earn rather modest wages) pay for all this renovation? IF the monarchy were to become too costly, the whole British economy might go down the tubes. Look at the numbers of people, businesses, haberdashers, clothiers, historians, soldiers, estate managers, footmen, etc., well you get the idea, employed by it all over the kingdom.

Douglas: Cancel the renovation and end the monarchy. It has no purpose.

David: Have the royals pay 65% of the restoration costs. Open it to the public to pay the 35%. The royals must not have a gleaming new palace without putting skin in the game. If they balk remove their access from Buckingham palace and make it a museum 100%. Even a King has to pay for his housing

Alex: He whined about trimming down the monarchy. Supposedly this would reduce the financial burden on the tax payers. Yet he has the audacity to expect the taxpayers to spend $369 million to remodel his home. If UK taxpayers are too stupid that they accept this…they deserve it. Maybe him and his adulteress wife can stay in his newly inherited 32 BEDROOM castle . May be a little cramped, but he will make due.

Tom: Put this old man in a studio apartment somewhere. That may teach him to appreciate things.

Albert: Let us get this correct, it is not sustainable, but he will spend $360 million plus. Is that taxpayer dollars? On another note, why do we care what they do?

Neim: There is no royalty, thrones, or kings in 2022. It’s all make-believe.

Monica: Don’t blame him, the place was already full of rats in Victoria’s time, imagine how it is now.

Brenda: I heard it had rats and some water damage. So maybe he is right to restore. When I was young I thought the Queen and all the monarchy lived in Buckingham Palace. I didn’t realize they each had their own spot.

Parker: Paid for by the British tax payer. I’m glad I moved to the US. There’s a real hit show coming!

Albert: The monarchy is rich, they can pay for the restoration all by themselves without bothering the the British taxpayers. For example the diamond stolen from Africa which was used by the queen as a hat can pay for the restoration, only problem is Africa needs its diamond back.

Jonathan: This is the kind of thing that will doom the British Monarchy. The British economy is a dumpster fire. This kind of expenditure will not endear Charles to the people of England.

Noam: Strip ALL royals of every penny they have and send them to flip burgers. Honestly, the concept of royalty still exists in this world?

McCain: Great. Can’t imagine how far £369 million ($420,237,495.00 US) would go in building low income and senior housing or provide food and heat for the needy. People there are prob thinking the same thing. Don’t like where you’re going to live, then don’t live there. Seems the royals fall under the category of gluttoness!

Karen: Once again dissolve the English Monarchy, $369 million pounds in renovation, who’s going to foot that bill….Waste of money and time, the Monarchy has run its course…..BE DONE WITH IT.

George: King Charles III not a fan of Buckingham Palace? Took a tour of Buckingham Palace in 2018. The narrative guide was by then Prince Charles. Always thought his first statement was most telling: “This was my boyhood home”. With that statement, and looking at the surroundings, you realize what a different upbringing that would be from anyone you know.

Henry: I thought the royal family owned all those palaces they live in…I know they own the estate in Wales and it includes a lot of the local land they charge rents on…if they can profit off these properties, shouldn’t they pay to maintain them???

Mary: So why should he live there? If it’s so old it must be unsafe. Why spend the money if they have another home? Let it be for tourists. This monarchy craziness looks like it can get out of hand. The “king” isn’t God and really that’s just a belief.

Billy: Of course, Her Majesty Queen Camilla has to live in a palace befitting her and her esteemed position as Queen. Buckingham Palace is old and decrepit, just like the fading British Empire and the even the Queen herself; it must be falling apart, musty, dingy, smelly, full of mildew, cockroaches, and mice. Now, the King wants to open it more to the public in order to make money to renovate the Palace. The cost of renovations and remodeling will come out of the pockets of the people anyway.

Emily: The monarchy should be completely done away with! Also, all of the buildings, lands, paintings, jewels, etc. that belong to “The Firm” should be confiscated and sold to the highest bidder. The Windsor family should be forced to pay taxes and receive no support from the government! No one should receive preference just for being born! The idea that there are large numbers of people that are homeless while there is a small group of people known as “Royals” who want for nothing is an unacceptable abomination!

Kira: Oh that is not going to go over well. He really is showing his pretentious side. Sounds more like he is going to assume the role of a tyrant. Since he wanted to take over between 20-30 years ago he has become power hungry. The ghosts of Tower HIll must be shaking with fright, a reminder of HenryVIII. Charles may not have the power Henry did, but he sure wants it. Now I am interested in Harry’s book because he may be revealing more about how his Dad felt being the King in waiting. You know it is always the kids that are ignored that are treated as invisible so much so that they see and hear everything that is going on, they aren’t considered important enough to be a threat, all the energy was put into William while Harry observed. I am one of those kids, so I know we are sorely underestimated and people will say and do anything around you thinking you pose no threat and you get to see who people really are and you know all the secrets and the lies, you know who is good and who only pretends to be, you get a ring side seat to a master class in manipulation, abuse and gaslighting. They are afraid of Harry for a reason, the only person in the know willing to talk openly, no unnamed cowardly inside sources, no Courtiers , but the Prince, a family member themselves. He should not dial by the comments, it isn’t worth staying in that family and he cannot save them. It is painful but he needs to let it go, say it, let it all out and walk away, rip off the masks for all to see.

Erich: Why do people worship this guy? For all accounts and purposes he’s an egomaniac who has no respect for him and no value for what it’s like to live a normal life. Can’t stand the monarchy.
