Biden attempts of blame Republicans for economic disaster

Joe Biden was blasted online after he tried to saddle Republicans with the country’s mounting economic woes and spiraling inflation that has led to historically high gas prices and rising costs for food and housing amid a supply chain crisis.

Democrats have been in control of Congress and the White House for roughly a year-and-a-half but the president appeared to make it seem as though the minority party is responsible for his policies and Democratic spending bills that several economists have said have played a large part in creating inflationary pressures.

“Republicans are doing nothing but obstructing our efforts to crack down on gas-price gouging, lower food prices, lower healthcare costs, and hopefully, soon, lower your prescription drug costs. This is not right. And that’s why this election is going to be so darn important,” Biden’s Twitter account noted on Sunday.

The tweet was immediately and brutally mocked.

Scott Jennings, a CNN contributor and Bush White House alumnus, wrote, “88% wrong track + 38% job approval = good f’ing luck with this BS.”

“Americans know the TRUTH Big Guy. No one is buying your blame game. YOU and Democrats OWN INFLATION. Your policies are making it FAR WORSE,” tweeted conservative political writer Kimberly Morin.

Others, such as author Matthew Betley, blasted the tweet while going on to say it probably was not directly written by the president himself. “You are corrupt and intentionally sabotaging America…intern,” he wrote.

“Huh? I thought it was Russia’s fault,” joked Mark Zinno, a talk radio host.

DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Pushaw sounded a similar tone when she wrote: “I thought it was the Putin Price Spike.”

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., tweeted, “Joe Biden believes that the American people are fools.”

Last month, Fox News’ White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if Biden is willing to take any responsibility at all for the rampant inflation.

After noting inflation and gas prices reaching record highs, Doocy asked: “In some places in this country now, a gallon of gas costs more than the people on the federal minimum wage are making in an hour. What does the White House want these people to do? Just stop driving to work?”

Jean-Pierre responded by claiming Biden understood what the American people were feeling, saying, “He understands what it means for people who are sitting at their kitchen table and see gas prices go up.”

She then blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for rising gas prices, which has become a key talking point for Democrats.

Doocy doubled down and asked again if Biden believed his policies were impacting inflation.

“You just mentioned Putin a few times as a reason for recent inflation. Do you guys think that any part of inflation this year is because of President Biden’s spending plans? Or is it all Putin’s fault?” the Fox News correspondent asked.

After Jean-Pierre dodged the question again, Doocy tried a third time: “So I guess the next question would be, does President Biden take any responsibility for his policies potentially contributing to inflation?”

“His policies has [sic] helped the economy gets back on its feet. That’s what his policies has [sic] — his policies has [sic] done,” Jean-Pierre went on. “This — when we talk about the gas prices right now, this is indeed Putin’s gas hike. This is what we have seen in the most recent months of what we’re seeing at the gas pump. And so that is a fact, we have seen about 60% increase in the past several months.”

“Seven states now average $5 or higher, with Illinois becoming the latest to join that unpopular club, according to AAA. New York and Arizona are just pennies away from the $5 threshold. The average in California now stands at $6.19 a gallon,” CNN reported in early June. “Brent crude, the world benchmark, gained 1% on Tuesday to close at the highest level in nearly three months. Brent is up another 1.2% Wednesday morning. The gains come after Europe agreed to phase out 90% of Russian oil imports by the end of the year.”

Oil and gas prices have fallen somewhat since then but remain high and are still above $5 a gallon in many places, according to GasBuddy.com.
