Buckingham Palace wants public support to make Camilla the Queen

Camilla Parker Bowles, who now is Queen Consort Camilla is exerting tremendous pressure on King Charles for dropping the word “consort” from her title and name her Queen Camilla before next year’s coronation of the British king, while Buckingham Palace is silently working for generating public opinion in favor of such title changes.

According to The Telegraph, Buckingham Palace could drop “consort” from her royal title. The title change would only happen if there is sufficient public support, the newspaper reported.

The Telegraph in its report titled ‘Palace to quietly drop Consort from Queen Camilla’s title’ said, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September, Camilla was among several members of the royal family to adopt new royal titles. As her husband became King Charles III, she went from being known as Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, to Camilla, the Queen Consort.

The title change also came after the late Queen Elizabeth II sent a message to the public in February expressing her desire for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort after she died.

“When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service”, the Queen wrote.

But according to The Telegraph, Buckingham Palace could look to drop “consort” from Camilla’s title so that she will be known simply as “Queen Camilla” by the time of Charles’ coronation due to take place on May 6, 2023.

Meanwhile, commenting on the possible change in Camilla’s title there is mixed reaction amongst people. Here are some of the comments:

Berry: I think the British public is resigned to Camilla and likely doesn’t want to elevate her status in any way beyond where she is at.

Denise: They should leave it at Queen Consort. I happen to like her, and after the late Queen’s endorsement I think a lot of people are accepting of that title. But, I don’t think it is wise to push the issue of dropping Consort, which could cause a backlash. Besides, given a little time people are likely to refer to the shortened version of just QC anyways.

Peetz: Think it’s best to stick with Queen Elizabeth’s request… Queen Consort.

Donald: How about Queen Rottweiler?

Robin: They aren’t going to do that. More click bait.

Andrew: Dropping Queen from the title is a much better idea.

Gerald: How about Royal Beefeater?

Christine: Call her whatever, but no more close-up photos, please!

Rudolf: With her teeth. My God. This woman has no shame. She is doing a forcing. My God.

Jessica: If they are the kind of society that chose somebody like her to be “queen” let them have it.

Phillip: Nonsense.

Shirley: Queen Camilla is the new queen of England whether people like it or not! Her husband Charles is the new king! Stop calling her Queen Consort. She’s the Queen!

John: I don’t know why the Brutish people put up with royalty nonsense. The queen has died be done with it.

Olivia: Or they could be completely honest and call her Queen Homewrecker.

Camilla feels very upset

Queen Consort Camilla is said to be “very upset” for her husband King Charles III, whose relationship with his youngest son Prince Harry is allegedly strained.

The claim was made by British author Angela Levin, who has written a new book titled “Camilla: From Outcast to Queen Consort.” The book explores how Camilla transformed herself into one of the key members of the royal family. Levin spent four months with the Queen Consort in 2015 while on assignment, and she has since spoken to numerous palace insiders and sources who are close to the 75-year-old.

Levin claimed that the palace is wary of what Harry will reveal in his upcoming memoir. In 2021, Random House announced that they were expecting to release the book late in 2022. Many have speculated the 38-year-old will criticize his stepmother, who is still blamed by some for the breakdown of his parent’s marriage.
