Cassidy Hutchinson admits of lying

Cassidy Hutchinson, who told the January 6 committee that President Donald Trump had grabbed steering wheel of SUV and lunged at a Secret Service agent now has changed her version stating, she lied in her original deposition to the House Capitol-riot committee. Hutchinson initially told the panel she hadn’t heard of Trump lunging at a Secret Service agent. But soon after her deposition, she said she told her attorney, “I lied, I lied, I lied”.

Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide in the Trump administration and a key witness in the House select committee hearings on the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, said she initially lied to the panel in a deposition about whether she’d heard that President Donald Trump lunged at a Secret Service agent in the presidential SUV on the day of the riot. But dramatically she changed her statement stating she was coerced by Stefan Passantino, her Trump-aligned attorney, to mislead it on how much information she knew.

“The committee doesn’t know what you can and can’t recall, so we want to be able to use that as much as we can unless you really, really remember something very clearly”, Hutchinson said Passantino told her.

After the deposition, she told the committee in a separate deposition that she broke down in front of Passantino out of fear that she had just lied to the committee.

“Stefan, I’m fucked. I just lied,” Hutchinson said she told Passantino. “I lied, I lied, I lied”.

Meanwhile, people are expressing their opinion on this issue on social media and news sites. Here are few of those comments:

James: I really think lying is part of the culture in Washington. They need to in order to get ahead. It is common, I believe, and people generally don’t think it is wrong. They live a different life than the rest of us making it hard for people to believe they practice lying to get their way.

Jeffrey: In a legitimate trial that would be called perjury. We used to follow laws in the country. She asked for a promotion than 3 months later was a star witness for the Jan 6th committee. Sometimes things in life are so obvious it doesn’t take logic to see there is a setup happening.

Gerald: This is a culture of lies and back stabbing. How could this country continue with corruption for the sake of self-aggrandizement. The US is entering its destruction phase.

Dean: The question she lied about before the committee was apparently if she had heard anything about the President lunging at a Secret Service agent. This is one more example of the tactics of the committee much like what they did in the impeachment hearings which they can get away with because the questions were not in a court of law. The question elicits pure hearsay and couldn’t even be asked in court. Hundreds of millions of people heard about the claim, and none including her witnessed it.

Bob: This article states that she was a key witness. If third hand knowledge is used for your key witness you got nothing and it is stunning that the press is still giving her coverage after actual witness and physics says it never happened.

William: Life sentence on the chain gang for all that traded in influence with our enemies. Start with the Big Guy.

Richard: Another star witness in this political circus. This was the one who sorta kinda was “in the vicinity” and heard things “to the effect of…”

Jeff: What difference does it make? She has zero firsthand knowledge. She is merely passing along what somebody with firsthand knowledge supposedly told her and that person denies it ever happened.
