Doha is a global destination for hosting business events

His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, President of Qatar Tourism and CEO of Qatar Airways Group, said that we have great ambition for Doha to become a leading global destination for hosting business events, which is a fundamental pillar of the Qatar Tourism Strategy for the year 2030.
He added that Qatar’s strategic location and its possession of a leading airline and airport that have won the highest international awards, as well as the facilities provided by the state for obtaining tourist visas and the modern facilities it provides to host exhibitions and conferences, make it an ideal choice for business visitors who want fruitful, enjoyable and smooth trips.
Qatar Tourism is currently hosting the annual conference of the International Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) for the Middle East and Africa, which comes to Doha for the first time, as it started its work in Doha from May 9 to 11.
This year’s edition of the prestigious conference, which is considered the largest gathering of business events experts in the Middle East, attracts elite representatives of stakeholders in the business events sector, including government agencies, conference promotion offices, and a group of the most prominent bodies responsible for overseeing the tourism industry across the region.
Hosting this conference represents an essential step for the tourism sector in Qatar, in which specialized tourism sectors such as conferences, travel incentives, exhibitions and meetings are of vital importance, as part of efforts to achieve the ambitious goal of the Qatari tourism industry, which is to increase the number of arrivals to Qatar.
This year’s edition of the conference is held under the theme “Towards Sustainable Growth”, as it presents strategies and solutions that are implementable and can help business officials and leaders achieve their goals in combating climate change. It is expected that the conference will present during its sessions a variety of interviews, meetings and lively discussions with the participation of the most prominent personalities and representatives from the business events sector.
