Issuing the regulatory framework for the quality of telecommunications services

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has issued the regulatory framework for the quality of telecommunications services, with the aim of raising the minimum level of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the quality of public telecommunications services in the State of Qatar.
The regulatory framework adds new obligations and KPIs to licensed telecom operators, which must be met to ensure the provision of high-quality telecom services. The key performance indicators cover a range of areas related to fixed and mobile services, in addition to broadband, including network availability, call setup success rate, voice quality, call completion rate, and others.
In this context, Ms. Amal Salem Al-Hinawi, Director of the Consumer Affairs Department at the Communications Regulatory Authority, said: “We issued the regulatory framework for the quality of telecommunications services, based on the authority’s keenness to ensure that consumers in the State of Qatar obtain more advanced and high-quality telecommunications services, by developing tools Appropriate regulatory, granting the necessary licenses to telecom service providers, defining the necessary obligations for them, in addition to monitoring their compliance with these obligations.
The TRA conducts an annual audit of the quality of mobile communications networks, by measuring key performance indicators to obtain results that reflect the reality of consumers’ experience. These results are published on the TRA’s website to ensure transparency. Moreover, depending on the regulatory framework for the quality of telecom services, telecom operators will submit and publish reports on the quality of service on a regular basis.
