Joe Biden set to pardon his son Hunter Biden

US President Joe Biden appears to be setting the stage to pardon his embattled son, Hunter Biden, as the Department of Justice is reportedly close to a decision over whether to charge him with a bevy of crimes related to tax and gun issues.

That’s the opinion of New York Post columnist Miranda Divine, who has authored a book on the first son’s troubles called “Laptop From Hell”.

Devine made her comments to Fox News after a rare sit-down interview where Joe Biden dismissed the possibility of his son facing charges and stated it would not impact his tenure in office.

“My son has done nothing wrong”, Biden said during the sit-down interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle that aired at 10 pm Friday. “I trust him. I have faith in him, and it impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him”, he continued.

“That mythology of Joe Biden that’s been around for more than four decades, which is that he’s a lovely family man… moderate Democrat, lunch pail Joe, working-class Joe, the poorest man in Congress, and a wonderful family man full of empathy because of the tragedies in his own life. That’s what he’s playing on”, Fox News columnist Devine said.

“I think the end game is that he’s setting up… framing this sympathy card so that when it comes time, perhaps in his lame duck period, that he will pardon Hunter and Americans will forgive him because they will say, well, Hunter was a drug addict and Joe just loves his family, and he’s been through enough tragedy in his life”, she continued. “Leave him alone”.

She went on to say she believes that Joe Biden’s response to Ruhle was premeditated and a set-up to frame the attempt to indict his son as a “political witch hunt”.

“It’s obviously rehearsed, and the plan for Joe Biden is to just remove himself entirely from the influence-peddling operation that he was involved in with his son Hunter and his brother Jim, pretend that it has nothing to do with him, and that Hunter is just being persecuted in a political witch hunt”, she told Fox News.

“That’s probably the only way he can go, considering he’s lied about his involvement since before the 2020 election”, she added. “And it will work for him with those Americans, and there are still many of them who believe that Joe Biden, that his only scene is that he loves his son too much”.

The DOJ is nearing a decision over whether to charge Hunter Biden following lengthy investigations into potential crimes over taxes and a gun purchase, according to a report last week.

The decision over whether or not to proceed comes after federal prosecutors met last week with attorneys for Hunter Biden, the New York Post reported.

Attorneys representing the first son met with prosecutors from the US Attorney’s office in Delaware to discuss the ongoing investigation into Hunter’s alleged tax offenses and lying on a federal gun purchasing form.

The investigation has spanned over four years and two presidential administrations.

Sources familiar with the matter have suggested that the US Attorney in Delaware, David Weiss, is close to deciding whether to pursue charges against Hunter on felony and misdemeanor tax offenses, while the possibility of dropping the case has also been raised.

Word of a charging decision comes after “FBI investigators reportedly expressed ‘growing frustration’ over the pace of the inquiry, and an IRS whistleblower came forward to allege Hunter has received ‘preferential treatment’ under the auspices of Attorney General Merrick Garland’”, The Post noted.

“I think from his point of view, he feels he’s done nothing wrong”, Devine told Fox News. “Remember, in his laptop, he says he gave half to give half its money to his father, that he was basically acting as the bag man for the operation, so he just wants to save himself”.
