Kamala Harris hated by her ‘inner circle’

Vice President Kamala Harris is losing another top staffer as a top member of her communications team announced this week that he is calling it quits.

Communications Director Jamal Simmons will leave by the first of the year after joining Harris’ team back in January. Harris’ chief of staff Lorraine Voles told staff in an email announcing Simmons’ departure that she hired him to help “steady the ship” of the vice president’s office and that he agreed to serve in the position for a year, according to the report.

During a segment on “The Five,” the panel took turns tearing into Harris.

“Oh, my gosh. All right, Jesse, should Biden have expected more when he chose her based on identity politics?” Co-host Jeanine Pirro asked.

Co-host Jesse Watters jumped in and responded: “ATTERS: “Anyone would have expected more. I think back to the previous relationships that I’ve covered of president and vice president. You never heard about the drama until like the eighth year or the last year or even after they left office. Gore only came out against Bill Clinton when he lost and said, ‘The Lewinsky thing might have cost me.’ And then Cheney got a little perturbed at W about the Scooter Libby thing at the way end of that presidency. And then Biden kind of sulked when Barack Obama endorsed Hillary, but that didn’t even really come out until way later. And then we all know what happened with Mike Pence in Trump. But this happened right away, like, first year, second year. Now, a sexist would say it’s because she is a woman. But I don’t say that. I say it’s because she is Kamala Harris.”

Pirro then asked co-host Dana Perino: “Dana, you know, even the White House admits that her inner circle is not serving her well. But shouldn’t she know better than to have an inner circle that hates her and is constantly running for the door?”

“Well, I don’t know if she has a choice. Remember when she dropped out of the presidential race before there were any votes. Do you remember, I think they had 50 people on the record who had worked for her saying how terrible it had been? So I think also, as a president, if you are dealing with the fact that she is in the news every day in a negative way, that is not what you signed up for it. Okay? So I can understand that. I think the thing that really got to me about this story is that the Second Gentleman weighed in. I’m like, ‘Oh, no, no. Sir, I think you should just say, ‘I’m very happy to be here. Thank you so much. What would you like me to do? Ribbon-cutting tomorrow? I’m on top of it, no problem.’ And if he wants to advise her in private, of course you should do that, but you cannot complain on her behalf. Don’t ever do that! I would be mortified. I would be mortified,” Perino said.

Harris, in particular, has had difficulty retaining staffers, reportedly due to an abusive work environment.

The Washington Post published a report that included interviews with then-current and former staffers, many on the condition of anonymity, who gave some candid responses to what it is like working for Harris.

“It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work,” a former staffer said to The Post. “With Kamala, you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you constantly sort of propping up a bully and it’s not really clear why.”

In July, a report said that some staffers believed her office was abusive.

“People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” a person that Politico claims knows how her office works, said. “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s—.”

The report added that members of President Joe Biden’s staff have noticed and are concerned about how members of Harris’ team are treated.
