In 2022, infamous Kolkata SSC scandal, which landed Partha Chatterjee, junior minister of Trinamool Congress and his girlfriend Arpita Chatterjee in jail and Partha’s relative Prasanna Kumar Roy under the radar of intelligence agencies. While the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are aware that a large portion of the SSC scandal cash had been secretly smuggled into foreign countries, they still are unaware of a fact that an individual named Mendi Safadi, a self-proclaimed leader of Israeli Likud Party and “South Asia Coordinator” of Mossad had received at least US$ 7 million from Partha Chatterjee via Prasanna Kumar Roy, and Safadi has invested this amount in businesses in Dubai.
According to a credible source, at the instructions of Partha Chatterjee, his cohorts Prasanna Kumar Roy and Shipan Kumer Basu contacted Mendi Safadi offering his 25 percent share in the businesses that Safadi would start in Dubai with fund provided from the SSC scandal loot. Subsequently, Mendi Safadi held several meetings with Prasanna Kumar Roy, while he also had meeting with Partha Chatterjee at the residence of Arpita Chatterjee. During these meetings, Mendi Safadi requested Partha Chatterjee to include Shipan Kumer Basu in Dubai businesses. As matters were agreed, US$7 million was smuggled out of India through hawala by a contact of Prasanna Kumar Roy. Immediately after the transfer of fund, Shipan Kumer Basu and Prasanna Kumar Roy flew to Dubai, where they met Mendi Safadi whereas Safadi promised to get Dubai residency card both for Shipan and Prasanna.

It is also learnt, during his meetings with Partha Chatterjee, Mendi Safadi introduced himself as a senior leader of Israeli Likud Party and South Asia coordinator of Mossad. He also said, Shipan Kumer Basu was working with him for years and Shipan has been “included in Mossad as a field representative” in West Bengal.
When contacted, at least four leaders of Israeli Likud Party told this correspondent that Mendi Safadi’s claim of being a leader of the party is “outrageously false”.
Replying to another question about Mendi Safadi being the “South Asia Coordinator” of Mossad, a source in Jerusalem said, “where did you hear such funny stuff?”
Who is Mendi Safadi?
According to information, Mendi N Safadi, an Israeli Druze proclaims as the Head of Safadi Center for International Diplomacy, Research and Public Relations. He studied at Bar Ilan University in Israel. The website of Safadi’s organization is inactive.
Both Mendi N. Safadi and Shipan Kumer Basu are maintaining connections with Hezbollah and Hamas for many years. They also are receiving monthly “lobbyist fees” from antisemitic and anti-Israel political party named Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for promoting Aslam Chowdhury, a leader of the party as a human rights activist. Both of them have hundreds of Jewish friends in their Facebook accounts, while the most alarming fact is –Shipan is regularly passing photographs and other details of the Jewish individuals to Hezbollah and Hamas in exchange of money. It is anticipated, these radical Islamic militancy groups might be using these photographs and details for some ulterior purpose.
Safadi and Shipan have been making frantic bids in involving Israel against Bangladesh. According to a report published in the Dhaka Tribune, Safadi was trying to broker relations between Israel and Bangladeshi Hindus.
