Opening registration for the Visa Everywhere initiative for startups in Qatar

Visa, the world leader in digital payments, has announced the opening of registration for the Qatar version of the “Visa Everywhere” initiative, a global innovation competition open to startups to present their innovative solutions to future payments and commerce challenges.

In addition to the financial prizes, winners of the Visa Everywhere initiative will receive access to Visa’s extensive networks of partners in the banking, commercial, government and venture capital sectors. Winners also benefit from recognition from one of the most trusted and valuable brands in the world.

The CEMEA Finals will be broadcast live on July 27 on TechCrunch, a leading online publishing company focused on the technology sector and startup ecosystem. The winning startup in the Central EMEA Finals will participate in the Global Final, which will be held on September 19 at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.

For the first time this year, the Visa Everywhere initiative in the Central Europe, Middle East and Africa region will present an award in the field of risk and security, the “Innovation of Financial Technology Companies in Excellence in Risk Management” award. Through this special edition, Visa, in collaboration with Emirates NBD, is looking for global financial technology players in fraud management, cybersecurity, credit risk, and other topics. After a joint review by representatives from Visa and Emirates NBD, the winning fintech company will receive a $25,000 prize and the opportunity to work with Emirates NBD, the leading banking group in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.

The Visa Everywhere initiative includes nearly 12,000 startups around the world, and since its launch in 2015, the initiative has helped startups representing more than 100 countries raise more than $16 billion in funding. Last year, the initiative presented more than $530,000 in prize money over the course of the competition, which saw the participation of more than 4,000 startups from five regions. The “Visa Everywhere” 2022 initiative saw the Nigerian company “Thrive Agric” win the global grand prize of $100,000 for the initiative. Thrive Agric also won the first Visa prize of $20,000.
