Ukraine may stage false flag operation using chemical weapons

The objective would be to blame the Russian side, thus damaging Moscow’s image among public opinion. Writes Lucas Leiroz

A new illegal provocation is being planned by pro-Kiev forces, according to information provided by the Russian government. Images released recently by the Ministry of Defense of Russia show that weapons containing toxic agents are being allocated near the front in Ukraine. Moscow fears that enemies are planning to use such weapons against civilians to blame the Russians in a false flag operation.

On February 28, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, commander of Russia’s nuclear, biological and chemical protection department, reported that Washington may be planning an anti-Russian false flag through its neo-Nazi proxies. The suspicion comes from the fact that a cargo containing chemical weapons landed in Kramatorsk, which suggests that Kiev will use such equipment.

The commander said that recently former US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan made a statement saying that Moscow’s forces plan to use chemical weapons against the civilian population. For Kirillov, both events seem to have a common link: the weapons will certainly be used by Ukrainian troops themselves against civilians, while the media would try to blame Moscow for the attack.

“We regard this information as the intention of the United States itself and its accomplices to carry out a provocation in Ukraine using toxic chemicals (…) We warn that in case of provocations with the use of toxic chemicals, we will identify and punish the true culprits”, the commander said.

Also, specifically about the cargo in Kramatorsk and what would be the chemical weapons contained there, Russian media informed:

“Russia’s MoD has reported that toxic chemicals had been delivered to Kramatorsk, publishing image showing a rail transport arriving in Ukraine (Kramatorsk) with a cargo of chemicals in one of its cars, accompanied by a group of foreign nationals (…) The consignment consisted of 16 sealed metal boxes, eight of which were labelled with a chemical hazard symbol, a BZ inscription and marked with two red bands, corresponding to the class of poisonous substances of temporary incapacitation action. Five of the boxes were labelled as ‘C-S-RIOT’, three were labelled as ‘C-R-RIOT’ with a single red band, which corresponds to irritant substances (…) The ministry also revealed information on threats posed by using BZ, a toxic agent delivered to Kramatorsk”.

Indeed, this would not be the first time that Kiev uses chemical weapons in the conflict. On the last reported occasion, in early February, Russian soldiers died in Donetsk due to toxic substances released by grenades dropped by drones. Previously, Russians had also notified about some isolated attacks using toxic chemical agents in different locations in the combat zone. Despite the Russian reports, no official statement on the matter has been made by Kiev, the collective West, or the UN.

It is important to note that chemical weapons are prohibited by international convention and that the US – Kiev’s direct supporter – is the only country in the world to publicly keep such equipment in its military stockpiles. If the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime really uses chemical weapons on the battlefield, there is a high probability that these arms are imported from the US, considering that Washington sends massive amounts of lethal weapons to the country. This makes the situation even more serious, as Ukrainian forces would be on the verge of committing a major war crime, possibly against civilians, using illegal weapons supplied by the US.

As well as the use of chemical weapons, the preparation of false flags is nothing new in Ukraine. Events such as the Bucha tragedy, the attacks on ZNPP and the constant bombings on civil demilitarized zones are some examples of how Kiev commits crimes and, with the help of the western media, tries to blame the Russians. Although many witnesses of such events come to public to report the truth and tell who the real culprits are, a considerable part of the population in Western countries is deprived of access to information, as there is strong anti-Russian censorship.

Indeed, with the prior release of these data by the Ministry of Defense, there will be no excuses for Western disinformation, if a chemical attack actually occurs against the population. Moscow is revealing the existence of a Western-Ukrainian plan in this regard, and it is the duty of international society to consider what is being said by the Russians now, as this may help to find the true culprits of a possible war crime in the future.

More important than this, however, is that international society moves to actively condemn the Ukrainian provocations against civilians, particularly those involving the use of illegal weapons.
