In Bangladesh, Nurul Haq Nur alias VP Nur pretends to be a man of strong moral character and patron of Islam. The former Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Member Secretary of ‘Bangladesh Gono Odhikar Parishad’ (Bangladesh People’s Rights Council) grabbed attention of Bangladesh media when he held secret meeting with Mendi Safadi, a self-styled “South Asia Coordinator” of Israel intelligence agency ‘Mossad’ and “prominent leader” of ‘Likud Party. But in reality, Mendi Safadi is an Israeli Druze living in the United States and he is known amongst people as a fraud and con-artist.

During his meeting with Mendi Safadi Nurul Huq Nur requested Mendi N Safadi for extending help from Israel for unseating Awami League government and help “Bangladeshi nationalist forces” in returning to power. VP Nur also said, once Awami League is ousted and a government led by “Bangladeshi nationalist forces” return to power, Bangladesh will establish “full diplomatic relations with Israel”. In response, Mendi N Safadi reportedly claimed a large amount of cash as “lobbyist fees”.

This meeting between Nur and Safadi was arranged at the advice of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Aslam Chowdhury, while according to another source, the meeting between VP Nur and Mendi N Safadi has been arranged by a controversial professor in Bangladesh who openly claims to be working for Mossad. Back in 2012, this professor secretly visited Israel via Nepal, met some officials in Tel Aviv and expressed his willingness of becoming a Mossad agent in Bangladesh.

Later, Nurul Haq Nur alias VP Nur held couple of meetings with Nazakat Quraishi, an officer of Pakistani spy agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI). Both the meetings took place inside Dubai nightclubs.

Nurul Haq Nur alias VP Nur, former Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Member Secretary of ‘Bangladesh Gono Odhikar Parishad’ (Bangladesh People’s Rights Council) recently grabbed attention of Bangladesh media when he held series of meetings in Dubai, one of which was with a businessman who fled Bangladesh after embezzling a huge amount of money from banks. During this secret meeting, the fleeing bank fraud handed an amount equivalent to US$250,000 to Nur for expediting anti-government movement. An eye-witness said, at the end of the meeting, the cash was handed to Nurul Haq Nur in a black-color bag. Immediately after the meeting and receipt of cash, Nur came on Facebook Live and made false and provocative statements. It is also learnt, from Dubai, Nur went to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah.

In Dubai, one of the secret meetings of VP Nur took place with an official of Pakistani spy agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI). He also held meeting with a key accomplice of Zeesan Ahmed, an INTERPOL-wanted top-terrorist who was arrested in Dubai in 2019.

Zeesan was arrested in a joint initiative of the National Central Bureau (NCB) unit at the Bangladesh Police Headquarters and the NCB Dubai and it was anticipated that he would be extradited to Bangladesh. But, according to a source, Dubai authorities did not extradite this notorious criminal and he succeeded in getting released on bail. The source added, VP Nur actually held meeting with Zeesan Ahmed and had received some “donation” from the top-terrorist for running anti-government activities in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh announced a BDT 1.5 million award on December 27, 2001 for information about 23 notorious criminals. Zeesan was one of them. He was involved in extortion and criminal activities in Gulshan, Banani and Badda and other parts of Dhaka city.

His name came to limelight after two officers of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police were shot dead at a residential hotel in Malibagh in 2003.

Zeesan fled to India in 2005. He then changed his named to Ali Akbar Chowdhury and succeeded in managing an Indian passport with which he later went to Dubai. Later he managed residency card in Dubai (residency ID number 784-1972-7476141-6). Sitting in Dubai, Zeesan Ahmed was running extortion and other forms of criminal activities.

According to media reports, during his Dubai visit, Nurul Huq Nur held secret meeting with an individual named Mendi N. Safadi, who falsely claims to be a Mossad agent and leader of Israeli Likud Party. One source said, this meeting was arranged at the advice of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Aslam Chowdhury, while according to another source, the meeting between VP Nur and Mendi N Safadi has been arranged by a controversial professor in Bangladesh who openly claims to be working for Mossad. Back in 2012, this professor secretly visited Israel via Nepal, met some officials in Tel Aviv and expressed his willingness of becoming a Mossad agent in Bangladesh.

During the meeting, VP Nur requested Mendi N Safadi for extending help from Israel for unseating Awami League government and help “Bangladeshi nationalist forces” in returning to power.

It may be mentioned here that, Mendi N Safadi was running a fraudulent organization named ‘World Hindu Struggle Committee’ with an individual named Shipan Kumer Basu and his wife Sabita Rani Basu. For many years, Shipan Kumer Basu and his wife Sabita Biswas Basu are engaged in extorting various individuals in Bangladesh and India by pretending as the authorized representatives of various organizations and governments, including Israel.

Shipan Kumer Basu, president of a scam racket named ‘World Hindu Struggle Committee’ and few of his cohorts including Prasanna Kumar Roy and Mendi N Safadi are under radar of Indian intelligence agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to media reports, Shipan Kumer Basus’ name surfaced as one of the key handlers of West Bengal’s SSC scam. The report said, Shipan Kumer Basu was one of the main cohorts of an individual named Prasanna Kumar Roy, who is a nephew of Partha Chatterjee, leader of West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress and a junior minister. Because of extreme intimacy and possible financial links between Shipan Kumer Basu and Prasanna Kumar Roy, Basu gave the position of ‘Chief Financial Advisor’ in his scam racket named ‘World Hindu Struggle Committee.

Mendi Safadi and Shipan Kumer Basu had swindled large amount of cash from various politicians in India, including Prasanna Kumar Roy by promising them getting connected to “key individuals” in Israel. Being hypnotized by Safadi and Shipan, Prasanna Kumar Roy spent huge sum of cash in arranging pleasure trips for Mendi Safadi and Shipan Kumer Basu to Dubai and few other countries, while a number of Kolkata actresses were provided to Mendi Safadi during his stay in India.

Earlier, an American national named Richard Benkin, another cohort of Shipan Kumer Basu also falsely presented himself as “highly connected lobbyist in the US” with “access to the US Congress, Senate” and “State Department” and extorted huge amount of cash from Hindus in India and Bangladesh with the promise of getting them favor from the American policymakers. Benkin also was pretending as “well-connected” individual in Israel.
