Yair Lapid backstabs Israelis and Jews

On the eve of Jewish new year, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid has visibly backstabbed Israelis and Jews by openly advocating a two-state solution in the UN General Assembly, which indicates, Lapid is ready to reach into a compromise by accepting Palestinian demand of a state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Yair Lapid almost has echoed US President Joe Biden who a day earlier made the same appeal for an independent Palestinian state in his own address to the Assembly. In his speech, Joe Biden said, “We will continue to advocate for a lasting, negotiated peace between the Jewish and democratic state of Israel and the Palestinian people”.

While Joe Biden advocated a “negotiated peace” between Israel and Palestinian people, Yair Lapid went further by saying: “A negotiated two-state solution remains our best way to ensure Israel’s security and prosperity for the future and give the Palestinians the state to which they are entitled.

“An agreement with the Palestinians, based on two states for two peoples, is the right thing for Israel’s security, for Israel’s economy and for the future of our children.

“Peace is not a compromise. It is the most courageous decision we can make”.

He also claimed that a majority of Israelis are in agreement. “Despite all the obstacles, still today a large majority of Israelis support the vision of this two-state solution. I am one of them”, he said.

Following Lapid’s speech, Biden took to Twitter and praised the Israeli premier.

“I welcome @IsraeliPM Lapid’s courageous statement at the UN General Assembly: ‘An agreement with the Palestinians, based on two states for two peoples, is the right thing for Israel’s security, for Israel’s economy, and for the future of our children.’ I could not agree more”, he wrote.

US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides also praised Lapid’s speech.

“Peaceful coexistence is only way forward. As POTUS urged here in July, ‘two peoples, with deep & ancient roots in this land, living side by side in peace and security’”, he tweeted.

According to poll broadcast immediately after Yair Lapid’s UNGA address, only 28 percent of Israelis actually favor creating a Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, Israeli opposition leader and former premier Benjamin Netanyahu slammed Prime Minister Yair Lapid for his address to the 77th United Nations General Assembly that called for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“After the right-wing government led by me removed the Palestinian state from the global agenda, after we brought four historic peace agreements with Arab countries that bypassed the Palestinian veto, Lapid is bringing the Palestinians back to the forefront of the world stage and putting Israel right into the Palestinian pit”, Netanyahu stated in a Hebrew-language video address.

“Lapid has already said in the past that he is ready to evacuate 90,000 Israelis to establish a Palestinian state. Now he intends to give them a state of terror in the heart of the country, a state that will threaten us all”, Netanyahu added.

“I and my friends will not allow this” declared Netanyahu, who is running to regain the premiership in the upcoming November election. “We will not allow the establishment of Hamastan on the border of Kfar Saba, Petah Tikva and Netanya. We will not return Israel to the Oslo disaster. Lapid endangers our future and our existence both on the Palestinian issue and on the Iranian issue.

“While Iran rushes to a nuclear agreement that endangers the very existence of the State of Israel”, he continued, “Lapid does nothing. For more than a year he has been asleep at the wheel.

“Unlike us, Lapid did not fight against Iran in the US Congress, in the US media, in the US Senate. He didn’t do anything”, he charged.

A JNS analyst noted that Lapid’s speech changed the entire election focus from “Anybody but Bibi” to a clear conflict between the left, led by Lapid, and the right, headed by Netanyahu.

In the video, Netanyahu vowed: “We will return to Israel a strong government that will prevent a Palestinian state, stop Iran, restore national honor and bring Israel back to the world status it had and which you so deserve”.
