Eminent Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan and popular Bangladeshi actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha played the lead roles in the film.

Commenting on the prospect of Bangla contents, especially Bangla films and web series on the OTT platforms, particularly on global platforms such as Amazon and Netflix, Syed Iqbal, Chief Operations Officer of Crown Creations, a leading advertising and marketing agency said: “In Bangladesh alone we have more than 90 million people using smartphones, while in West Bengal in India, the number is also around 45 million. The total size of Bangla-speaking populace in the world is huge. Currently there are above 270 million Bangla-speaking people in Bangladesh, India and the world. According to latest statistics, Bangla is the seventh most-spoken native language and the sixth most spoken language by total number of speakers in the world”.

Tajul Islam said, “Crown Entertainment is the only production company and content provider in Bangladesh, which is equipped with modern production and post-production facilities including dubbing studio, editing panels, cameras and technicians. We believe, any of the leading global OTT platforms, which is currently considering Bangla-speaking audience and willing to include Bangla contents with sub-titles in English and other languages will for sure see their best partners in Crown Entertainment and its sister concerns”.

He said, “Bangla is the official and national language of Bangladesh with 98 percent of Bangladeshis using Bangla as their first language. Within India, Bangla is the official language of the states of West Bengal, Tripura and the Barak Valley region of the state of Assam.

“It is the most widely spoken language in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as well in the Bay of Bengal, and is spoken by significant populations in other states including Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Uttarakhand in India while Bangla also is spoken by the significant global Bengali diaspora (Bangladeshi diaspora and Indian Bengalis) communities in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Middle East.

“Any global platform looking for a lucrative market should immediately focus on Bangla speaking viewers. For these reasons, I believe, Amazon and Netflix will rather compete in entering this market. Whoever enters first would surely play a dominating role”.
