For the first time, a musical documentary film on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be released in Bangladesh and throughout the world on August 1, 2019.
On July 17, 2019, prominent Bangladesh singers Anupama Mukti and Sabbir Zaman gave voice into the songs for this documentary musical film.
Lyrics and tune of the songs are by Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury. Music directors are Erfan Tipu and Kazi Jamal. The musical documentary film is being directed by Tapon Ahmed.
Talking about the upcoming musical documentary film, music director Erfan Tipu said, “For many years I had always wished to work in such a special project. Bangabandhu is the symbol of pride, hope and courage of every Bengali and of course, we are eternally indebted to him for presenting us a country of our own. Being a citizen of this country, we have an emotional attachment with Bangabandhu. The upcoming musical documentary is the brainchild of Shoaib Choudhury, who has penned and tuned the song titled ‘Ashbeyna Firey Jani’ [Know You Won’t Return]. As a music director, I am always a huge fan of the lyrics and tune of Mr Choudhury, as his lyrics are of a very high standard while the tunes are mesmeric and heart soothing. It’s an excellent song and I know, this is going to be one of the best songs ever written on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”.
Commenting on the song and the musical documentary film, Shoaib Choudhury said, “It is actually huge teamwork. There are over 20 people involved in this project – in various sections. I do believe, the song will be able to touch people’s emotions. I would like to thank my entire team, especially Erfan Tipu, who has worked very hard for almost 10 days for giving life to the song. I am happy with my singers in this song – Anupama Mukti and Sabbir Zaman. Both are very talented singers and particularly I was overwhelmed seeing Mukti’s dedication and concentration to this song. She has tried to give her best. I am grateful to Mukti’s husband, Mr Sharif for his presence during the recording. In brief, I am hopeful, people will love this song”.
Kolkata’s film director Rino Dutta is extremely hopeful about the song. Talking to this correspondent he said, “I am a huge fan of Shoaib Choudhury’s lyrics and tune. His lyrics are tremendously powerful while tunes are truly mesmeric. As people say, Shoaib Choudhury is a magician of tune – another god of music. We Bengalis, irrespective of the political boundary are very proud of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He is a great leader, and this is truly a wonderful and very timely initiative by Mr Choudhury in paying tribute to this legendary individual”.
Rino Dutta said, “Shoaib Choudhury is not only writing Bangla songs, instead he has the excellence in penning Urdu, Hindu and English songs. I am looking forward to a similar musical documentary film on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in all of those languages in future”.
West Bengal’s eminent theatre activist, actor, director and writer Parthasarathi Raha is excited about the song. He said, “I am aware of the mesmerism Shoaib Choudhury has as a lyricist and composer. The song on Bangabandhu is mind-blowing. I already have told him; this song will win the hearts of every Bengali – both in Bangladesh and in West Bengal. After listening to the song, I could not hold my tears – it really is one of the superb creations of Mr Choudhury”.
