244 million lei, money seized in the file in Platon’s name, reached the state’s treasury accounts

The amount is currently in the accounts of the Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Assets (ARBI) of the CNA. The money will be in the custody of the state until a forfeiture order is passed on it.

The 244 million lei are part of the total sum of 268 million lei, seized in the Platon case, about which CNA announced on January 12. More precisely, on this day the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters admitted the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s approach in the case of Platon Veaceslav, accused of money laundering, a crime provided by art. 243 para. 3 lit. b) Criminal Code, by which the transfer to the Treasury account of ARBI was requested in the amount of 268,054,638.19 lei, resulting from the sale-purchase transaction of 63.89% of the shares of BC “Moldindconbank” SA held on the bank account of the same financial institution.

Earlier, on the respective monetary means, a seizure was applied by the prosecutors, which was later authorized by the Chisinau Court, Ciocana headquarters. The insurance measure was applied in order to recover the damage caused to BC “Băncii de Economii” SA.

On April 18, ARBI informs that following the cooperation with PA prosecutors and bailiffs, the transfer of funds to the treasury accounts was successful, thus ensuring the best practices taken from similar authorities in France and Belgium in the field of administration of seized assets.

Additionally, the Agency is to ensure the transfer of the difference of 24 million lei to the treasury accounts in an additional procedure.
