Jaipur, May 19 (Hindustan Times). The result of the positive policies of the Government of India is that today the number of startups in the country is not only increasing rapidly, but a large section of youth is seeing a new path in this. The growth of startups in the country is presenting a new picture of India to the world. This is the reason that today India has become the country with the third largest startup ecosystem in the world. Following this path of development, 2731 startups in Rajasthan have been able to create a new identity for themselves.
To strengthen the Indian economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an important announcement on August 15, 2015 at the Independence Day celebrations. Through this, the Prime Minister aimed to recognize the entrepreneurial potential of Indians in the changing times. The Government of India implemented these intentions within just five months by launching the ‘Startup India’ program on January 16, 2016 with the intention of creating a strong ecosystem to promote innovation and startups in the country.
In response to an unstarred question presented in the Lok Sabha, it was told that since the inception of the Startup India program, the number of startup units in India has increased by 225 times. There were only 442 startups in the country in 2016. Now their number has increased to 99,371 (by May 14, 2023). At present, at least one startup is operating in every state and union territory of the country. Not only this, more than 100 unicorns are also operating in India. Out of these, 23 unicorns started in the year 2022.
If we talk about Rajasthan, where there were 13 startups in 2016, their number has increased manifold every year. 137 new startups started in 2017. The pace of startups did not stop even during the Corona period and 493 new startups in 2020 and 619 in 2021 started their work in the state. By November 2022, 879 new startups made their debut in Rajasthan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the country’s economic development, which was laid in 2015, has played a significant role in taking India’s startup ecosystem to great heights and creating new large-scale employment opportunities. 8.93 lakh jobs have been created in the country since the inception of the Startup India program (by December 2022).
