The 36 new excise stations notified in 36 subdivisions of 27 districts of Bihar will become fully functional from June 1. At present, space and manpower are being arranged for these police stations notified on 27 April 2023. According to the information received, the command of the product stations will be in the hands of the product inspector. Apart from these, two dozen policemen including two SIs, three ASIs and about one and a half dozen product constables will be deployed in every police station.

Officers will be able to search without warrant

Under the Act, the Excise Officer will get the power to search without warrant under section 73. The jurisdiction of these new liquor prohibition stations will be the concerned sub-division, where FIR related to excise charges can be registered. At present there are 44 police stations including five in Patna district, two railway stations and 37 other districts.

Number of product stations will be 80

After the opening of 36 new police stations, the total number of product stations will be 80. It may be known that due to the wide jurisdiction of most of the excise stations currently working, there was difficulty in doing proper inspection etc. work. Because of this, keeping in view the area, population and geographical location of the district, 36 sub-divisions of 27 districts have been declared as prohibition police station areas.
