AGORA recalls that on April 12, the board of flights operated by Air Moldova displayed a series of cancellations. It is about four air races from Ireland, Great Britain and Italy. The flight to Italy and Great Britain was also cancelled. The Civil Aviation Authority notes that the airline is at risk of losing its Air Operator’s Certificate.

Shortly after, Air Moldova came up with clarifications about the 3 flights canceled on April 12 and mentions that on the same day the accounts of the airline were blocked. For this reason, the company did not have the opportunity to pay the services of the State Enterprise Chisinau International Airport, the aircraft contracted under wet lease regime and their fuel supply to operate the 3 flights, later cancelled.

“At the present time, Air Moldova has reached a common denominator with the creditor that blocked the accounts and can operate with them in a normal regime”, emphasizes the company.

And the Civil Aviation Authority claimed that the reason for the cancellation of the flights would be the precarious financial situation of the air operator and the impossibility of paying for the services provided by third parties such as: The ground handling company that provides fueling services for aircraft and the lessors that offered short-term lease of aircraft to supplement operational capabilities.

“If the financial situation is not rectified in the near future and the supply of sufficient aircraft fleet to provide the services in which they have engaged, the airline risks having its Air Operator Certificate suspended,” ACC notes.
