Al Arafa Islami Bank violates constitutional provision, disrespects Bangabandhu

Al Arafa Islami Bank, a financial institution that runs under Sharia rule is accused of violating the constitutional provision of Bangladesh. It may be mentioned here that, Sharia rule denies democracy and democratic institution.

It may be mentioned here that, according to constitutional provisions of Bangladesh, displaying the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is mandatory.

But, Madhabpur branch at Habiganj district of Al Arafa Islami Bank is ignoring this constitutional provision and does not display the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

When asked, Mojibur Rahman, Manager of Al Arafa Bank said, they did not get any directive from the bank authorities for displaying photograph of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. For this reason, branches of the bank do not display those photographs. When Mojibur Rahman was reminded the constitutional provision of Bangladesh, under which it is mandatory to display photographs of Bangabandhu and the Prime Minister, an ignorant Mojibur Rahman said, he would act as per the directive of the bank authorities.

Meanwhile Blitz editor contacted Sheokh Mainul Islam Moin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Madhabpur asking if his office is aware of Al Arafa Islami Bank’s not displaying the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, he has already initiated investigation into the matter.
