New Delhi, 7th May (Hindustan Times). India’s Bindayarani Devi on Saturday won a silver medal in the women’s 55kg category at the Asian Championships in Jinju, South Korea.
Commonwealth Games silver medalist Bindayarani won the silver medal with a total lift of 194 kg (clean 83 kg, jerk 111 kg). He started the medal tally for India in this edition of the championship. Mirabai Chanu had finished sixth in the 49kg category on Friday.
However, Bindayarani was competing in a non-Olympic weight class. Chen Guan Ling of Chinese Taipei won the gold medal with a lift of 204 kg (90 kg–114 kg), while Vo Thi Quynh Nhu of Vietnam won the bronze with a lift of 192 kg (88 kg–104 kg).
