From Monday to Friday, at lunch time, the employees of Pretura Centru are waiting for 100 socially vulnerable people to serve them hot lunches.
And Valentina Sîrbu came for the hot food. The old woman, aged 79, has several health problems, and out of her pension of 2,600 lei, she has to pay 2,000 lei in bills and says that she has reached the poverty line.
“Everything became very expensive. You pay the bills and you don’t have enough money for one thing or another, a coat, a shoe, let alone something good to eat, you can’t. And now what should I do, how should I live?”, the pensioner was indignant.
Among the beneficiaries is aunt Marina, who says that thanks to this campaign she has something to put on the table.

“I come here for food for the second month, every day, it’s very tasty. Course I, course II, salad. You go home, you eat it lukewarm. If not, you heat it up. Thank you very much,” added the woman.
Representatives of Preturia Centru say that approximately 850 people benefited from hot lunches in the almost 6 months of the campaign. People are selected based on the lists presented by the Preturia’s Social Assistance Directorate. They include single retirees, people with special needs and large families on modest incomes.
“During this period, together with the ASICS Association, we managed to offer about 10,500 lunches. We believe that this campaign had a major impact because it took place in the cold period of the year, when the bills are high and not all people can afford to eat every day both course I, course II, and even a tasty salad. We believe that we contributed to their health and well-being, we did not leave them hungry during this complicated period”, he noted the praetor of the Center sector, Vadim Hîncu.
We note that the charity action is part of the campaign “We support because we care”, launched by the ASICS Association with the aim of being with the most vulnerable social categories during the cold period of the year. Needy families from the city of Străseni also receive such lunches daily.
