Bangladesh minister warns communal forces

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said the extremist groups, which have been creating anarchy and chaos in the country in the recent times, are enemies of the state and they must be brought to the book.

“Extremist groups that have created anarchy in the recent times are prime foes of the state and they must be punished by the existing law of the land,” he said. 

The minister said this while commenting on recent terrorist activities of Hefazat-e-Islam and its cohorts as the chief guest at the inaugural function of distribution of free agricultural incentives (fertilizers and seeds) among local small and marginal farmers organized by Nesharabad Upazila Administration in Pirojpur.

“Speaking about the grave situation of the COVID -19 Rezaul said while Bangladesh is coping with the Corona situation better than any other countries of the world, a group of anti-independence extremists, including Mamunul Haque, are trying to destabilize the country,” he said adding, “Islam is not safe in the hands of those involved in immoral activities like those persons”

“The message must be conveyed to every mosque and madrasa that none has done what this government had done for Islam, even then, when the government is striving hard to establish a peaceful state , there should not be such attempt to destroy the country by creating chaos in the name of Islam,” the minister said.

Nesharabad Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Mosharraf Hossain presided over the function, while Nesharabad Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdul Haque, Upazila Awami League President Abdul Hamid, Swarupkathi Municipality Mayor Golam Kabir, Upazila Krishak League President Shashanka Ranjan Samaddar, Assistant Commissioner (Land) M Abir Mohammad Hossain, Upazila Agriculture Officer Chapal Krishna Nath, President of Nesharabad Press Club M Nazrul Islam and local Union Parishad chairmen were present at the occasion.

Vested quarter hatching conspiracy against Bangladesh

Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shahab Uddin said conspiracies are yet being hatched against the country but none would be allowed to do such heinous activities.

”A section of vested quarter is still hatching conspiracies against the country and independence…They want to destroy the country with a view to making it like Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, but would never be allowed to do that,” he said warning that strict action would be taken against those miscreants.

He said this while inaugurating a program of distributing Aus paddy seeds and chemical fertilizers by joining virtually among small and marginal farmers under the incentive program of the fiscal year 2020-21 at the Baralekha Upazila Parishad auditorium in Moulvibazar, organized by the Department of Agriculture Extension, said a press release.

Addressing the farmers, he said, the present government will continue to provide various incentives to the farmers including seeds, fertilizers, agricultural and machinery.

“No agricultural land can be left fallow, different types of crops including paddy, potato, pulses should be cultivated throughout the year,” he said adding, “This will help the farmers as well as the countrymen”.

Baralekha Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Shamim Al Imran presided over the meeting while Chairman of Baralekha Upazila Parishad Sayeb Ahmed, Vice Chairman of Baralekha Upazila Parishad Mohammad Taj Uddin and Agriculture Secretary of Baralekha Upazila Awami League Niaz Uddin were present, among others.

Jihad promoter Wasik Billah arrested

Following publication of an investigative report in Blitz, notorious jihad-promoter Waseq Billah Nomani [also known as Wasik Billah Nomani] has been arrested by Detective Branch of Bangladesh Police on allegations of delivering extremely provocative statements in favor of jihad and his pronouncement of solidarity with radical Islamic militancy groups such as Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT). Blitz has also published investigative reports about few more individuals, who were involved in spreading propaganda against the government during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to police sources, Nomani is the district secretary of a radical Islamic organization named Khairul Ummah. He was apprehended from his house at Sankipara in Mymensingh district. He graduated from the Anandamohan College in Mymensigh and had converted to Islam from Hinduism.
