Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s politics of insanity

Leaders of pro-Islamist Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has totally indulged into politics of insanity and conspiracies. Its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed anger at Bangladesh Police’s launching on a news site named ‘Police News’. Criticizing Bangladesh Police and the Inspector General of Police Dr Benazir Ahmed, the BNP leader asked why police should have its own news site.

The BNP leader even went further by stating the country was “not functional” just because Bangladesh Police has launched their own news site.

Wish someone would ask Mr. Fakhrul, why Bangladesh Police should not or cannot have their own news site. Moreover, I would like to remind the BNP leaders that Bangladesh Police has had its own newspapers, such as The Detective – for decades. This newspaper was printed and published from Polwel Printing Press. Even this newspaper was continuing publication when BNP was in power.

One may now ask, why BNP and most of the anti-government elements, including Jamaat-e-Islami and those radical Islamic militancy outfits are terribly angry with the law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The reply is simple. Because of effective measures of the law enforcement agencies, including Bangladesh Police, BNP could not continue its nefarious terrorist acts following the 2014 general elections. It is because of the dedication and commitment of Bangladesh Police; BNP and its cohorts could not spread reign of terror throughout the country with the help of Hefazat-e-Islam during March 2021 Bangladesh visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is because of undeterred efforts of the members of Bangladesh Police, pro-Islamist BNP’s numerous attempts of unseating the government through terrorist acts had fallen flat.

BNP’s leaders also are frustrated at government’s recent decision of taking legal actions against illegal IP TVs and news channels on YouTube, just because, Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its ideological darlings such as Jamaat-e-Islami, Hefazat-e-Islam, Ansar Al Islam, Hizbut Tahrir, and few fugitive criminals will not be able to run jihadist campaign as well as nefarious propaganda against Bangladesh.

Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said: Our information minister yesterday (Thursday) said all the TVs that are operated here on social media and from outside the country must take permission (from the government here). That means the government will now control those who speak for democracy and the truth through social media”.

Only the leaders of a politically bankrupt party, or those who want to destabilize Bangladesh with the help from jihadists, terrorists and criminals would become worried at government’s decision of not allowing operation of illegal IP TVs and illegal news channels on YouTube. This very statement proves, BNP does not believe in legal procedures. It is only looking for every illegal way and means.

Doesn’t Mr. Fakhrul or his party comrades know – illegal IP TVs are not allowed to operate anywhere in the world? In this case, anyone would easily understand a plain fact, those illegal IP TVs and illegal news channels on YouTube were directly or indirectly owned or controlled by leaders, members or activists of BNP and its ideological cohorts such as Jamaat-e-Islami, Hefazat-e-Islam, Ansar Al Islam, Hizbut Tahrir etcetera.

We are applauding government’s decision of not allowing operation of illegal IP TVs and illegal news channels on YouTube. We also congratulate Bangladesh Police for launching a news site and we believe, this news site will focus on activities of Bangladesh Police in countering terrorism and illegal activities.
